There is no doubt that thrift business has been on the increase over the years because of it's viability and increasing patronage from people from all walks of life., Not only that, buying items from thrift stores is a practical act of minimalism - it's economical, earth friendly and you get to find beautiful and unique items too.
Here in my city, Aba, thrift business is the in thing and we have lots of thrift markets and shops. There are also some thrift sellers especially those who sell clothes, that do not have a permanent place, they move from office to office, schools, local markets etc to sell their wares.
It may interest you to know that here we call thrift wears okirika or bend down select, lol.
I tell you thrift shopping is fun especially when you meet a crazy seller who will be shouting "bend down select, bend down select, your grade one okirika is here oo. Buy one $3, two for $5 and so on".
That being said, let me delve into the topic
Do you like thrift shopping?
Share with us that found treasure and why was it perfect?
When I read this question I couldn't stop the laughter because I knew how guilty I am when it comes to thrift shopping. Who wouldn't like thrift shopping except the person hasn't tried it before. I'm a great thrift shopper and I love it, lol.
I tell you most of my clothes, shoes, bags are from thrift shops and markets except for traditional attires. I always go for the quality ones which they call "grade one" here.
My love for thrift shopping stems from the fact that I have the opportunity of picking beautiful, unique and quality items especially wears that can serve in any occasion. I've really found big and small treasures from thrift shopping.
And you know what, they're of good quality, some even look brand new.
Take a look at this photo - the cloth, shoe and bag are all product of thrift, hehehe. And the funny thing is that I didn't buy the shoe and bag same place or time. See how elegant I look, dressed this way I can attend wedding party, birthday party etc, business meeting, or even go out on a date, hehehe.
Although thrift items are already used items, most of them are still in very good shape and can last for a long time. Infact some still look brand new.
Like this shoe I'm putting on here was bought at a local thrift store looking almostl new. It's been with me for years now. Infact my whole attire plus the bag were all gotten from thrift store.
This beautiful black leather bag you see here is one of the big treasures I got from thrift. I call it a big treasure because it's a multi purpose bag suitable for any occasion - church, work, market, party, etc. The color is a perfect match for every thing I wear and it's been for seven years now, no wear or tear.
Here's another perfect match, also bought them differently. I could remember that I didn't want to buy it because it was tip toe but the seller said buy this shoe, you'll enjoy it. And I tell you, I'm so enjoying it now. 😂
See how cool I look in these clothes, ready to hang out with friends. I'm sure you know what I was going to say, lol. Yeah, I got them from there. 😂
I'm sure you might be thinking that it's only wears that I buy from thrift, not at all. My double deck refridgerator, hand hair dryer, plates and cutlery, cooking utensils and a handful of jewelries too are all on the list.
Another reason I love thrift shopping is that some of the wears are usually custom made and it's rare to find another person wearing them. Also you find top designer brands there just like this shoe.
I remember what a client said the day he saw me in them;
"I like this shoe, so unique. Looks like Clarks
kind of design"
"Wow, yes it is, how did you know?" I surprisingly asked. He replied that he knows because that's his favorite designer and his shoes usually have a particular signature.
Items bought at thrift are usually pocket friendly unlike when buying them new. They are even cheaper when being auctioned so I usually take advantage of that to pick some valuable stuffs at a fair price.
Like I said before, I love thrift shopping and I've got me many treasures at good deals from it. So if you aren't thrift shopping yet, you're missing out most especially the fun part of it, hehehe.
Thank you for reading and I hope you found my thrift treasures beautiful 😍.
Still the #threadsaddict 😂
