"An ordinary woman who can do extraordinary things is empowered."
Hello, empowered women and all people of Hive!
Today, I will share my experience of being a barber of the day with my one and only daughter. It was a bit nerve-racking, but I must go on. Conquer your fear, they say.
Never in my entire life have I experienced cutting hair for others than me. When I was at college, I did the latter using scissors used for cutting papers for my school projects. 😂 Other than that, I have zero experience.
Being a mother would mean doing something beyond what you can do. Thanks to my daughter for telling me that I should cut her hair.
One afternoon while I was sitting, doing nothing, I watched her playing with her toys and looking at her long hair. So I was thinking if we should go to a barber shop or would be the ones to do it. After a few minutes, my final decision popped into my head; call my daughter. Before I told her what we should do, she told me first that she likes to cut her hair just like her cousin. I was surprised and happy because I shouldn't have to force or ask her to.
With so much agitation, I immediately get the scissors and comb. I told her to go to the balcony and sit.
Whether you like it or not, my husband didn't trust me at first. He doubted if I can do it. He told me that you are about to cut our daughter's hair. I don't like her to have terrible hair after. Hahaha.
As a mother, in my mind, I will do my best to have a good outcome with all my power and might. Praying the scissors would not be destroyed in the process of cutting. Hehe.
Materials Needed for Hair Trimming:
- Shears and Scissors
- Sectioning Clips
- Razor
- Cape
- Comb
- Brush
Compared to the materials I have at home:
- Scissors- having this big would mean I can surely cut her hair.
- Comb with one seat apart. Hahaha
The difference between a haircut and a hair trim.
Hair cut is to change the typical style and shape of your hair to another one, while hair trim is to maintain the style and shape of your hair or remove any damage.
My Idea about Hair Cutting and Hair Trimming
What I had reminisced about when I was young, my mother let the barber (female) go to our house to cut our hair. In short, she did home service. Her materials were scissors, water, a comb, and baby powder. What she had done were a manual hair cutting and hair trimming.
The first step is to comb the hair. Second is the so-called sectioning. You cannot cut a person's hair at once, that is why the latter plays an important role here. After which, put some water, enough to get wet. Then she cut thoroughly until finished. Well, thanks to our barber, I've learned some steps on how to do it.
This Is It
When my daughter was ready, I started trimming by sectioning her hair as the first step. She already comb her hair before we get started. As you can see, compared to our barber before, I didn't put water on her hair because I was in a hurry hoping she wouldn't get bored in the long run. Lots of sweat came out of my pores while doing so; feel a bit nervous at first. Haha
After a few minutes, she asked me if it was finished. I told her, almost. Another few minutes passed, and she asked me the same question again. The last one was while she started to move. Hehe. Thankfully, it was a success.
The Outcome
The nervousness I felt changed into immeasurable bliss. It was a challenging yet productive day. I was able to save money for the supposed to be a service fee of the barber.
How about you? What extraordinary things did you do today? Please feel free to share yours in the comment section.
