Ladies of Hive post – Title: “Between Forest Paths and the Hospital – A Weekend Full of Emotion
Today, I want to share a story of a day that was beautiful, intense, and… wrapped in an unusual sense of calm.
Because even though I’m being admitted to the hospital on Monday morning for pre-op tests – and the surgery is likely on Tuesday – I feel an inner stillness. Not stress. Not fear. Rather a strange kind of relief. As if my body and heart are whispering, “It’s time. You’re ready.”
I started the day on my own terrace – early, around 6 AM. A quiet moment just for myself before the busy family rhythm began.
Then we hit the road! The whole crew – my husband, the kids, and I behind the wheel – drove down the highway towards Opole and then through fragrant forests to a place called Staniszcze Wielkie.
There, a surprise adventure was waiting for us – a rail bike ride. Imagine pedaling like on a bicycle, but on train tracks! We cruised through open fields and woodland, laughing and encouraging each other as we pedaled. We had two rail carts: I rode with my husband and our youngest, Wiktor, while Oskar, Sara, and Alex took the other one. It was one of those simple, happy family moments that stay with you.
We decided to skip kayaking for now – there was still plenty to do. On the way back, we stopped by IKEA to pick up new bedding sets for Sara and her friends, because tomorrow we’re hosting a backyard sleepover. My husband built a little roof over the terrace of Sara’s treehouse and set up a tent so the girls will have lots of space. Sara tidied up the garden, and I did a bit of organizing myself. We even went shopping to grab some snacks for tomorrow’s party.
I still have to pack for the hospital – and that’s coming fast.
And yet… I feel no panic. Not even worry. Just deep gratitude.
Gratitude for the rail bike laughter.
Gratitude for one more garden evening filled with giggling girls.
Gratitude for just being here today, soaking it all in.
Whatever this week brings, I go into it with hope.
Maybe life will change a little – maybe for the better.
And maybe that’s enough for now.
Pomiędzy lasem a operacją – mój weekend pełen emocji
Dziś dzielę się z Wami opowieścią o dniu, który był piękny, intensywny i... podszyty niezwykłym spokojem.
Bo choć w poniedziałek rano czeka mnie przyjęcie do szpitala i badania przed operacją, a zabieg prawdopodobnie odbędzie się we wtorek – to w środku czuję tylko cichy spokój. Nie stres. Nie strach. Raczej coś na kształt ulgi. Jakby ciało i serce mówiły: „Już czas. Dasz radę.”
Dzień zaczęłam na własnym tarasie – cicho, o 6 rano. Taka samotna chwila tylko dla mnie, jeszcze przed zgiełkiem rodzinnych planów. A potem ruszyliśmy! Całą rodziną – dzieciaki, mąż i ja jako kierowca – pomknęliśmy autostradą w stronę Opola, a dalej przez pachnące lasy w kierunku Staniszcz Wielkich.
To właśnie tam czekała na nas niespodziewana przygoda – kolej drezynowa. Coś między rowerem a pociągiem – śmigaliśmy po szynach przez zielone przestrzenie, śmiejąc się i dopingując siebie nawzajem. Jechaliśmy dwiema drezynami: ja z mężem i naszym najmłodszym, Wiktorkiem, a obok nas – Oskar, Sara i Alex. To była taka nasza mini-wyprawa, pełna dziecięcej radości i prostych zachwytów.
Kajaki musiały poczekać na inną okazję – ten weekend był już zaplanowany po brzegi. Po drodze zahaczyliśmy o Ikeę po nowe pościele, bo jutro w naszym ogrodzie odbędzie się dziewczyńskie nocowanie – Sara zaprosiła koleżanki. Będzie namiot, domek z daszkiem (dzieło mojego męża!), girlandy, smakołyki i nocne rozmowy. A ja mam jeszcze tyle do ogarnięcia... i jednocześnie – muszę się spakować do szpitala.
Nie czuję paniki. Ani nawet niepokoju. Czuję wdzięczność. Za te śmiechy dziś na drezynie. Za to, że mogę jeszcze raz spojrzeć na ogród pełen dziewczęcego szczebiotu. Za to, że jutro mogę jeszcze po prostu być.
A potem... może wszystko się trochę zmieni. Może na lepsze.
Nie wiem, co przyniesie ten tydzień. Ale dziś – dziś jestem spokojna. I pełna nadziei.
