Embarrassment don't necessarily mean that today is your last day on earth, but it does seem like a period when you would rather vanish without a trace.
It is vital for me to provide my own perspective of the story, therefore as I became aware of the topic for this week, I attempted to carve out time in response.
What Actually Took Place
There was this guy I would refer to as Mr. E who had a crush on me back then in my university days, He was in the faculty of engineering and majored in computer engineering, whereas I was in the department of science, specifically taking chemistry course at the university of Uyo in Akwa Ibom state, Nigeria.
If it helps, Akwa Ibom is one of Nigeria's southernmost states. I had no idea that life would bring Mr. E and me together to the point where we would attend the same elementary school, the same high school, and end up at the same university.
Not because we planned it or anything, but our sponsoring parent chose the same school for him as I did when deciding where to go to schooling. Funny enough, neither my parents nor his are acquainted.
Occurrences At The University
He attends the same campus fellowship, I later realized that. We met unexpectedly, often after classes at school, when I might be on the way back with my friends. All we had in common was a hello. He appeared to be nice and considered the possibility that nature was attempting to communicate with him, and guess what? He invited me to his place where we had a conversation.
We grew close over time, and when He proposed to me, I declined the offer. If I had known, I wouldn't have done so because I just wished I was not single right now. I never even gave the possibility of friendship any attention because I treated him like a friend, so that was my excuse.
Fast forward to that point, and guess what? Ever since he first spoke to me, I haven't given him a face. He contacted me one day and then I was seriously ill. I informed him that I was sick. He then visited me with loads of fruits, and I felt quite welcomed.
Prior to receiving my official release from school, I had to leave the area where he was residing to go meet a cousin of mine. As a result, I remained there for more than a year because many tertiary institutions were forced to close due to the widespread COVID-19 problem.
I returned to school where I had already acquired a place to live after the covid time when we were invited to restart for our final clearance. On a fateful Sunday, I decided to attending a nearby a religious service. I unexpectedly met Mr. E again in a different denomination not the usual campus church this time around. I intended to say hello to Mr. E after church since I resembled a runaway girl in his eyes, but lo and behold, the unexpected happened.
What's this? When it came time to give an offering during the service, I danced to show my appreciation for Jesus' goodness. However, as I began dancing, my shoe broke down, and I didn't have any money on me to mend it save for my last gift. The only thing I could do, after weighing all my options, was to compose a note to Mr. E and inform him of the situation.
In contrast to what I had anticipated, he read my note and then went to buy me some glue to patch it. I managed to hold the shoe back in church using the adhesive which took me home safely.
That day, I was so embarrassed that I would not be able to go home right after church, nevertheless the person I had rejected saved the day.
Even so, I hoped Mr. E would rescind his previous invitation but he didnt. I recently learned that he is legally wedded now and a popular figure. That the kind of man I had been hoping for. Nevertheless, I don't feel guilty because someday I will also get married. But he is doing well, and I am delighted for him.
To sum up
Be reasonable with those who love you without conditions. Mr. E did this to me, although I'll admit to myself that I wasn't ready at the time. The idea of reasoning with them is to enlist their assistance if you ever face a task that is too great for you. Instead of excluding folks arbitrarily, get together and talk about your issues. Even if you are not required to wed them, they can still be of support to you, particularly in times of need.
