How your values can change your life.

Hello friends of this community; To set viable goals in life, you must first remember that principles can change with culture, society, different stages of life and the environment in which we are. Discovering your personal values requires a process of deep reflection, an analysis of who you really are and how you would like to live your life.
So to begin this process and define your personal values, the first and most crucial step consists of reflection and self-assessment, I am going to present some key questions that you are going to answer yourself on paper, the first question you are going to start by writing about the most important moments.
Memorable, most significant in your life, what were those particularly challenging or significant moments for you, what qualities or what emotions did you feel in those moments.
The second question is which people you admire the most, identify three people, be they public figures, family members, etc., that you admire the most and write why you admire them. Oh, I admire her for her discipline! for your creativity! I admire her for her beauty! Think about the qualities you value most in those people.
The third question is what are your favorite movies and series, what do you like to watch the most, this is a question that seems silly, but you will begin to see a familiarity, a similarity between all of them, write if you are a person who really likes comedy or romances or movies about family, cartoons, you will begin to realize that there are similar things that are part of your personal values and write down why, Oh because it talks about family!, or because I like suspense!, or because I like suspense! costumes! I like the songs!
Write and describe why you have those preferences, and I promise you, if you knew the value of this exercise, the importance of seeing yourself from another perspective, I want you to become familiar with yourself at this moment, to think about yourself in your preferences, writing, so that you become familiar with the feeling of self-confession, you know, when you are writing there is also a space for you to talk about what you feel, what feeling you have been feeling these days, what feelings you like to feel, what feeling terrifies you. feel, create that habit of expressing and confessing everything that torments you, putting yourself in the place of vulnerability.
I know that most people were not trained or raised to express their emotions, personally throughout my life, I was someone who used to hide my feelings, I kept them to myself because I didn't even know, I didn't even understand what I was feeling, I didn't know how to deal with them so it is crucial that we learn to express them alone so that you can externalize and say what you feel.
What are your fears, what are your desires, your frustrations, perhaps you know, then dedicate a space to answer these three questions, most significant moments, people you admire the most and movies and series that you like to see the most or that you enjoy watching the most.
This is the first step, but I assure you that it is the most important step, although it can be challenging at first especially if you have never done it, do not judge yourself as I say, allow yourself to flow as Bruce Lee said, I know how water flows, let these questions guide you, express your feelings, take your time to answer, you may find it easy and you can express yourself in 20 minutes or you may need more days to process everything, but don't worry, the important thing is to do the exercise, committing to knowing yourself through writing.
This step is about exploring what is inside you, it is not about thinking rationally about words or values but about immersing yourself in knowing yourself and expressing who you are and this will allow you to feel more connected, more secure in yourself with who you honestly are.
The second step involves exploring your values and how to do it, well simply go to Google and search for “list of personal values” and there you will find a variety of lists with words that represent different values, I recommend doing this after completing your self-assessment and in this step you will become familiar with the words that are usually associated with values, do not worry about not knowing what some of them mean, what the words mean or not finding the words, it is normal to feel a little lost at first.
When I did this exercise, sometimes even material things can be a personal value, an important value in your life, not like your house or your car, if so, write it down too because in this part you will begin to give personal meaning to the words you find, you will realize that for example your car or your house can transmit you a feeling of security, stability or comfort that are important to you, they are important for your life, it is an important value by doing this you will see how the words on the list relate to your own experiences, with your own feelings and you will observe which words are repeated the most.
What are the qualities that you can group and this exploration will give you much more clarity and knowledge about your own values, then we will move on to the third step which is the prioritizing step, now is the time to filter, to select, to clean those words that are most important to you, start by grouping the similar words, those that evoke the same feeling or have a related meaning and then eliminate all those words that you feel you could live without in peace.
And this purification process is crucial and will help you focus on what is really essential for you, filtering and selecting is essential, to establish your priorities in your life and when you do all this, keep a maximum of five words, five words, five values that are the most important to you and next to each value write why they are important to you, what meaning they have for you personally, explore how you are manifesting those values in your life and why they are important to you.
When you look at your values you will be able to evaluate if they are aligned with the way you are living your life right now, you may realize that there are certain values that are not congruent with the actions you are taking, values that you consider important, but you are not prioritizing in your life, for example, you may value health, but if you do not dedicate time to physical exercise, to take care of your emotional well-being, you may feel a mismatch between what you value and how you really live.
