This article is a continuation of Guo Pei's Couture Fantasy, part 1 and part 2.
The many pieces in Guo Pei's collections make use of gold. Not only is gold important in knowledge and wealth, but Guo Pei believe that it is, "the color of our souls".
The people in the exhibit reacted in a positive way. They are very surprised, in the same way I was, to see the amount of details, the historical elements, the Chinese mythology that is present in the designs, and just the amazing couture work that is incredible!
There so much more than couture: there is theater, the history that Gou Pei is bringing back, the historical references that she brings in her work, are magnificent. The mythology from her Chinese heritage, ancient traditions that are no longer mass-used, it's definitely beyond fashion.
The hand work, the amount of detail, so intricate, so beautiful! Looking at the beading and how long it takes, it is something we don't see anymore. I was honored just to be able to see that.
