I've been spending quite a lot of time in #snaps lately. I think the majority of my Hive activities over the past month have been focused on interacting with other users there, lol. It's just so much fun to hang out for several reasons. But before I share those reasons, let me reintroduce Snaps to you, the wonderful people of Hive.
Snaps
Snaps is PeakD's short-form content app on Hive, working similarly to Threads and Waves. It is integrated into the PeakD frontend while also allowing cross-platform posting to inLeo's Threads, Ecency's Waves, and LikeTu's Moments. Additionally, it offers an option to view all short-form content on Hive through one of Snaps' feeds.
Although short-form apps have been available on Hive for quite some time, the PeakD team has introduced innovative design elements in their interface. They’ve also developed a creative and resourceful approach to rewarding engagement on the Snaps platform. I’ll elaborate on this later in my post, but for now, let me share what I usually do on the Snaps platform.
Simple Life happenings
Like every other user of #snaps, I post quick, short updates about whatever is on my mind at the moment. That’s the beauty of a short-form content app—there are no strict rules about what you can post. Most of my Snaps are thoughts or photos that I feel aren’t substantial enough for a full post but are still worth sharing, in my opinion.
The main reason I participate in Snaps is the great interaction I experience there. It's fast-paced and almost feels like a chat room because of the quick responses I get from other users.
Polls
That’s also why I love using Snaps' Polls! While long-form blogs can also include polls, I feel that using them in short-form content doesn’t require lengthy explanations. Creating a poll in Snaps is as simple as writing a question and adding the choices. Surprisingly, I’ve been receiving valuable feedback, which helps me gather others' opinions on various topics.
Mini Contests
One aspect of Hive that I really appreciate is the initiative shown by community members. Over the past month, I’ve noticed that we, as Hive users, often create mini-games to keep ourselves entertained and engaged with one another. Some Snap users have organized games, quizzes, and even contests. I’ve joined many of the games I’ve come across, and I think it’s a fantastic way to make the experience even more enjoyable.
Rewards!
We have a truly unique platform! A social network with a reward system is definitely a motivating factor that makes the time we spend here worthwhile. There are plenty of ways to earn Hive and HBD tokens just by doing what we already do on any other social network.
As I mentioned earlier in this post, PeakD's Snaps has introduced a creative and resourceful way of adding an extra layer of rewards. This system recognizes and rewards the meaningful interactions a Snap user receives on their posts.
The Peak.Snaps container post is designed to accumulate rewards and distribute 99% of the total payout as liquid Hive and HBD to Snaps users, based on the engagement level of their posts.
In essence, if one of your snaps or posts generates high-quality interactions, you’ll receive a larger share of the container post’s payout. The additional reward or tip is delivered through the CommentRewarder service. By participating in Snaps daily, you increase your chances of receiving rewards delivered directly to your wallet each day.
