Hello Ecencials, several days ago we launched a new update for Ecency.com which introduces the Onboard friend feature.
Allow us to provide you with more information about this feature. When someone invites new users to join Ecency, they often face challenges and have many questions during registration. With the latest update, you can now assist your friend in completing their registration. Before you begin the registration process, make sure to log out of any profiles you are currently logged into. Failure to do so may result in a black screen appearing during registration. To begin, go to Ecency.com/signup and enter your desired username and email address.
Step 1: New signup
Once you click on the continue button, you will be directed to the next page. On this page, you will have three options to choose from:
Free registration: This option allows you to sign up for Ecency without cost but with certain bot preventative checks.
Buy account: By selecting this option, you can purchase an account that provides you with sufficient RC and Ecency points for easy Hive activation.
Ask a friend: If you choose this option, you will receive a key and a link.
You can obtain the keys by clicking the "Download keys" button.
Step 2: Ask a friend signup option
You can obtain the keys by clicking on the initial button labeled "Download keys".
Step 3: Download New account credentials
Once the keys have been downloaded, the screen will display the required link for your friend to proceed with the registration. Copy the link and send it to your friend, who will complete the registration process on your behalf.
Step 4: Send a link to your friend
To open the link, another person must be logged in; otherwise, the message "Login to create an account for a friend" will appear on the screen during the opening process.
Step 5: Friend/Creator, who already has an account on Hive and Ecency
If your friend is logged in, you will have two options after clicking the link:
- Pay with Hive - Creating an account costs 3 HIVE currently subject to witness set value.
- Pay with Account Credits- You can pay using your Recourse Credits in this case. The number of available account credits will be indicated as well.
Step 6: Friend/Creator, verifying username and public keys and creating account for a friend.
The screen will also display information about the new user's username and their public Keys. A new user account will be generated after picking one of the options and confirming it.
After successful creation you will receive email and friend’s username will be indicated as creator of your account. Login and start following your friend, engage and enjoy power of web3 with complete control over your online account (social + financial + more).
You can easily request any community members to create an account for you, simply follow steps and securely share creation link with anyone on Hive. Creator friend or community member does not know anything about your private keys, only username and public keys are visible to them to verify if they are creating account for right person.
