I want to tell you about this super cool experience I had at a drift and tuning event here in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, at the Cambódromo. Honestly, I don’t know much about cars, but when my brother-in-law said we should go, I thought, "Why not?" I spend so much time stuck to my computer designing that it was about time to get out and see something different.
When we arrived, I was surprised by the number of people, the loud music, and the cars on display. There were vehicles in all colors, many with their hoods open, showing off their engines, which people admired with great enthusiasm. While I don’t know much about cars, I found it fascinating how they appreciated every detail, as if these were true works of art.
Les quiero contar sobre una experiencia súper interesante que tuve en un evento de drift y tuning aquí en Santa Cruz de la Sierra, en el Cambódromo. La verdad, no tengo ni idea de autos, pero cuando mi cuñado me dijo que vayamos, pensé: "¿Por qué no?" Paso tanto tiempo pegado a la compu diseñando que ya era hora de cambiar de aire y ver algo diferente.
Al llegar, me sorprendió la cantidad de gente, la música fuerte y los autos en exhibición. Había vehículos de todos los colores, muchos con el capó abierto mostrando motores que la gente miraba con emoción. Aunque no entiendo mucho de autos, me pareció curioso cómo admiraban cada detalle, como si fueran verdaderas obras de arte.
Then, the drift show began. It was impressive to see cars skidding on the track, getting so close to the safety barriers that it felt dangerous. I’d never seen anything like it outside of movies, and though it was a bit nerve-wracking, it was also thrilling. I recorded some videos to capture the moment.

After wandering around the event for a bit, we heard even louder music. It was an audio competition between cars. Before heading over, I decided to grab a chipilo, a fried plantain snack that I love. My brother-in-laws and I ended up buying all the chipilos from a vendor, and someone even tried to buy one from us, but my brother-in-law decided to keep it.
Después de recorrer un rato más el lugar, escuchamos música aún más fuerte. Era una competencia de audio entre autos. Antes de acercarnos, aproveché para comprar un chipilo, ese plátano frito que tanto me gusta. Mis cuñados y yo terminamos comprando todos los chipilos de una señora, y hasta alguien intentó comprarle uno a mi cuñado, pero decidió quedárselo.
When we got to the audio competition, the cars were decked out with lights and vibrant colors, blasting music so loud that it was almost unbearable. The sound was overwhelming, and I couldn’t understand how people could enjoy it. I stepped aside to take some pictures while the crowd cheered, took photos, and seemed completely captivated.
Cuando llegamos a la competencia de audio, los autos estaban decorados con luces y colores llamativos, y el sonido era tan potente que no se entendía nada. Era un ruido estruendoso, casi insoportable para mí, así que me alejé un poco y me dediqué a tomar fotos. La gente estaba fascinada, sacando fotos y videos, pero yo no lograba comprender el atractivo.
By midnight, I tried convincing my brothers-in-law it was time to leave, but the noise was so loud they couldn’t hear me. Eventually, we headed home, with the sound of engines and music still ringing in my ears.

Ya pasada la medianoche, intenté convencer a mis cuñados de que era hora de irnos, pero con tanto ruido ni siquiera me escuchaban. Finalmente, regresamos a casa con el sonido de motores y música aún resonando en mis oídos.
