I've been reorganizing my home office area over the last week although a full reorganization was the last thing on my mind when I set out. I wanted to give it a tidy and clean to straighten things out but the activity got quickly out of hand and a week later I've only just completed the task. Time well spent? Yes, it absolutely was.
As I was cleaning and straightening up I began to see where I could make improvements, move things to more convenient parts of the desk area and create more space for books and notepads and all the other things I need to do what I do. I put things I don't use all the time a little further out of reach and brought a few things closer, re-set where the monitors were to get a better and less awkward view, managed all the power cables better and generally improved the entire layout among many other little adjustments and deletions; removing clutter is always of benefit. At the end I wondered to myself why I'd not done this sooner.
Change is not always something we actively pursue and if something is working we tend not to make any changes, but that doesn't mean change isn't possible or required. The thought of changes can be confronting and some fear it, the "if it isn't broken don't try to fix it" mentality, but that doesn't mean change is bad. It doesn't always work out as intended but that's the thing with change, it can happen over and over.
It's the same when we think of ourselves and how we may need to personally change, improve, grow and develop. If we do there could be such great advantages and benefits and if we do not we will never know.
