I know at some point in our lives, we would have had a deep thought about what we are actually doing on Earth. If you haven't thought about it, then I guess you've never reflected upon your life. This insinuates you've been living life without segregating lone moments to analyse circumstances and events surrounding your life. Both past, present and future events.
I assume every great thinker must have thought about this question and many have struggled to find an answer. Well, my stay on this fleeting Earth has provided an answer to this rhetorical question.
While growing up, I literally had the world on my palms. I experienced happiness, joy, freedom and unlimited provisions for everything I desired. I had the perception that life was built on a bed of roses. I never for once complained about what to eat, neither did I think of what to wear. I guess my parents care towards me created this illusion that life was a game of :
"If you want it, you'll get it".
Life dawned on me about 13 years ago when I lost my dad to a brain tumor. My life took a different twist from here. I began to realize that the coverage of my parents or rather, my Dad, obscured me from seeing right through reality.
I got mingled in the hustle and struggles of life along with my mum — it was then and only then, did I realize that we are just revolving around a constant phase of birth, struggle, survival, and death. I mean, we were brought into this world as children and as time progresses, we'll grow to struggle and make ends meet then probably raise kids of our own when the time is right, and when our time on Earth is over we'll then exit this Earth to be laid feets beneath the ground. Is that it? Just that?
If our existence is strictly about growing up, eating, having fun, solving life's problems perculiar to us, having kids before being snatched away by the cold hands of death, then our existence was all for naught. It might sound strange but you can't live for yourself alone
You might not be the richest guy around, but if there's one thing that adds a little bit of value to life, it's our extension of help and expression of love to people around us. This is the highest we can do as humans and it's something I've decided to always do irrespective of the situation I find myself, because that's what life revolves around.
Life is riddled with lots of misfortune, heartbreaking scenarios and an aimless cycle which never ends. It's only our expression of love to the people around us— including family — that adds meaning to life.
Imagine exiting this Earth without being remembered for the lives you changed in your own little way, or imagine being remembered as a wicked, selfish person?
That's a horrible way to end !
Love is the only act that springs forth inner peace and satisfaction. Satisfaction that pertains not only to our beneficiaries but also to we, the benefactors.
Life is meaningless without love. We'll all die someday, but our deeds of love while on Earth will forever live on as a legacy, both here on Earth and in paradise.
Some things are just inexplicable, some answers unanswerable, but we can create answers during the course of our short journey through this unknown land filled with lots of questions.
Perhaps if we submit to the principles of love, we would see the world for not what it is but for what we can make it become.
Thanks for reading through.
