Hi fellow Hiveians,
Today I wanted to think about just how fast and far we've come in a short span of time with regards to travel!

We Travel Faster
The pace of advancement in the world is one of the things we don't necessarily think about..
I've had a few situations in the last few months where I really was able to think about how wildly the technological advancement that has gone on in the past 100 years has been. If you think about it.. a little over 100 years ago was the Ford Model T and now we have spaceships... that's some wild shit!
I was sitting outside the airport one day waiting to do something that I was scheduled to do, watching the planes constantly taking off and landing and it was one of those times for some good reflections. In the human history we know about (I suspect there is a lot we don't know about), the wild thing to think about is how readily and easily we are traveling across the entire world. We are able to fly from New York to the other side of the world in about 24 hours or less. That's some crazy shit!
Taking a boat or many other slower mods of transportation will get you there in weeks or months at best, and with technology like planes, which didn't exist 100 years ago, you can do it in hours.
This gets me to thinking.. what is in store for us in the future? I know there is a lot of pessimism, rightfully so, about how things are going and how sick people are intentionally trying to manipulate and fuck with people out of boredom. The sad thing about that though, is that has always been the case. With the advancement of travel though, what will we be doing in 100 years from now? It's really difficult to comprehend if you think about it.. so many variables and things are moving at such an intense pace right now that it's anyone's guess what the fuck is going to happen in 5 years never mind 100.
I know that humans do these things. We invent things; we problem solve. We figure shit out! That's what we are best at, and I think this is one of those other parts of the manipulation that annoys me. We have companies that buy up and intentionally bury things that they don't want others to have, which is pretty shitty at the end of the day. We are such an interconnected species and world right now, and if we can leverage the overall skill and ability of the worlds intellect I think it would surpass many computers and even AI systems.
I think back to my grand parents and how they grew up, where they saw the development of airplanes in their lifetime. We got to see the development of the internet, and the things like that. It's pretty wild to think that in the (supposed) 5,000 years in the recent past that people were using stone chisels for hundreds or thousands of years, but we can develop from using horses to using cars to using planes in about 120 years? That's some pretty wild exponential growth!
Was it..
ALIENS??! :D
What about you, do you think sometimes about the rapid change that's occurred in the technology of the last 100 years? Let me know in the comments!
