I think we all have regrets over certain decisions we have made and rather have regrets over those decisions than those you have not made. The only way you will know is after you have made them so it is all down to your judgment. As long as you learn from these then you should have no regrets.
Yesterday my one packaging business sales agent left which was actually a blessing mainly as she was hard work and I was seriously considering letting her go. Over the last 3 months she has had so many melt downs I have lost count and I am no agony aunt who has time to listen to sob stories. I think you know those calls you have regretted once the other person starts chatting and it is now all about trying to cut the call short without coming across as being rude. I have asked family members to phone my phone if they are around me so I can say I have another call and will chat again soon which seems to work.
Let us call her M as M is now moving on to a sex toy marketing and sales position on behalf of a Muslim gentleman who cannot be seen as the owner of the company. M will be the front for the business and I do not give this business much hope knowing how she jumps around and has really whacky ideas.
For myself and the packaging business we can move forward far quicker without her involvement as she was the one who had a long list of contacts and had done nothing with them. M's idea was to send one email to all her contacts and sit back and wait for the responses. This is not how I work and would rather work with each person directly on an individual personal basis. This in my view will get the desired result even if it takes slightly longer.
The impersonal mass email may work for one or two, but the old school method of picking up a phone and chatting to the people directly means you have their attention and gives you a chance to get your message across. What made no sense is why she would not choose this method as she already knows them and if she already has a business relationship with these people they would listen.
I was questioning her rationale on so many levels I was kind of regretting bringing her into the fold and I hope she succeeds with her sex toys and does not come crawling back which is my worry. I think I kind of expect this within the next few months and will take it week by week.
The plan is now to get all her contacts and do the deals before she has a change of mind which she tends to change often and why she struggles to get anything achieved as she jumps around thinking the next opportunity is easier. What i offered her is not hard work and she would be in a strong financial position within 6 months if she just stuck to the plan. Nothing is ever easy and what she had been offered was a walk in the park as she knew the people she was going to be selling to which is half the battle won.
Maybe people just have such a cushy existence that they have never really had to work for things in their life as this decision has left me slightly baffled. The contacts or people M knows may have been good contacts at one time and maybe she has burned the bridges as this is her personality so using her as a reference may not be advisable but just having the right contact name is all I require. I can sell snow to an Eskimo so this is straight forward for myself as I enjoy dealing with people and have no issues phoning or visiting anyone.
