Are You Ambitious Enough?
I’ve been thinking about this question for a while, and many answers have come to my mind. But I realized that something was missing from the whole picture. I used to be very ambitious for a certain period, but then I started to feel frustrated and bored after facing many challenges and obstacles that stood in my way.
After a lot of thinking, I discovered that the reason behind my frustration is the feeling of failure when I don’t achieve exactly what I want. In reality, there is no such thing as 100% success. You can make plans and set many goals but in the end, you may not achieve them exactly as you imagined. You might reach around 90%, but expecting to achieve everything perfectly is nearly impossible.
Every human being wants to reach everything, but the goals never stop. For example, if your goal is to make $1,000, once you reach it, your next goal will probably be $10,000, then $1 million, and so on. The numbers won’t end and neither will your ambitions. So, not reaching every single goal is not failure as it’s just a natural part of life that we all need to understand and accept and to know also so your mind would not be exhausted from that.
To be realistic and to continue on your path without stress or frustration, you can simply trick your brain. Let’s say your real goal is the number 5. Tell yourself that your goal is 10. That way, when you reach 5, your brain will think you’ve done well, and you’ll feel genuinely happy because you reached what you truly wanted. This method helps the brain continue moving forward.
I used to imagine myself walking down a long path, completely exhausted. At the final few meters, I would feel more tired than ever, even if I had walked longer distances before. Why? Because the brain often holds back your full energy when it believes you’re nearing the end. If you tell your brain you want to reach 100, it will only give you enough energy for 90. That’s why the final 10 steps feel the hardest.
But if you trick your brain into believing that your target is 150, then reaching 100 will feel easier, and your brain will give you the energy you need without holding back.
It’s that simple 🤔
