Engaging in a new venture is quite incredible. You put all your learnings and experiences into it and explain your model and insights to those you need to convince as you try to create a team around the initial idea. Some of them encourage you, others question your model and ideas making you rethink them and you end up working many hours a day to try to finetune your model into something real overcoming all the obstacles you find along the way.
There are many times when you have to think twice if you are doing things properly, there is no written manual you can follow or go over to check. Some people around you will discourage you from moving forward, and others will just support you. It is the sum of your willingness, your experiences, your personal situation, and your desires that leads you to move forward no matter what. It is like walking up the stairs, you just have to keep going up to reach the destination.
Sometimes I compare it with a several-day solo cycling trip I did a few years ago. It was a very hot summer and on the very first day, I had a flat tire three times, ran out of tubes, and ended up having to walk the last 10km after 75 cycling. I could have just forgotten about cycling and gotten onto a train, and I could have left the bike and enjoyed sightseeing, I also remember some people laughing about traveling solo on a bike instead of doing it in a car. But part of the satisfaction was not just doing the trip but doing it solo, on a bicycle, and reaching the final destination.
Along the way I had to switch the initial route several times, had heavy rain and burning sun, didn't like the place I had booked one of the nights, and slept outdoors in the mountain. All those hurdles made the trip even more interesting and enjoyable, and this is how I wish this journey I am starting now will be and has no clear destination, as it keeps changing every day.
In a way, it reminds me of the path Hive has been taking. From the initial idea of Steem founders to all the meetings and resources many had to put to fork the system when it was under high risk of centralization. Finally, adding forces from all the community led us to where we are now, way far from the early days and even further from the destination which probably will never be reached as it will keep changing.
