Pretty much every supermarket in the UK has one of those 'cigarette counters', although these days perhaps it should be renamed to Vape Counters? These are an absolute nightmare if you need to use them. They're generally staffed by people who really don't want to be there or by individuals suffering from chronic verbal diarrhoea! and if that wasn't bad enough they are a magnet for every weirdo, cretin and pain in the arse human on the planet. And I'm being kind there, honest!
This morning: I'm stood behind an old man who looked like he was held together by his clothes and those clothes were very possibly held together with a bit of string under his coat.
Old Fart: "These razors, I bought them yesterday and they only have one spare."
Assistant: "Oh, let me get someone to fetch another pack for you."
Two of three minutes later
Assistant: "This one only has one in as well. Hang on, there's one already attached to the handle, that's two then."
Old Fart: "It says three on the box."
Assistant: "Oh, let me see. Yes it does? Claire, Claire. Am I going mad? It does say three on the box doesn't it?"
Claire: "Yes, it says three blades!"
Assistant: "Oh? Three blades?"
Glaring at the old fart
Me: "For Pete's sake! It's THREE BLADES not three cartridges, it's a Mach 3 they must have been out for at least 20 years! Are you trying to tell me you don't know what three blades mean?"
Assistant: "Oh yes, if you look at the picture it has three blades."
The old fart, still unhappy, shoved the razor in his pocket and shuffled out the door muttering under his breath.
Assistant: "Sorry about that, thanks for your help."
Me: "Watch how quick I am! Lucky dip Lotto & Thunderball and a Number 4 please."
I take a personal pride in seeing how fast I can get served and complete my purchase at the cigarette counter. I think I took well under a minute beating my personal best.
