Shells from the sands and rocks wrapped in a mystery

Well hello there everyone I hope that you're well and I hope that you enjoy a mystery as much as I do, for here I have a few.

There is the mystery of where all of these shells and rocks came from and then there is the mystery of what kind of rocks AKA gemstones that these are.

So I shall start the story at the beginning- but not as far back as the beginning of creation of these shells and rocks, just as far back as when I found them in Mum's cupboards (god I LOVE mum's cupboards for they are FULL of mysteries, especially since she's no longer with us to answer my questions...)

Anyway, Mum was a collector and mostly, not a very discerning one. Infact, I would call her a hoarder. I have called her a hoarder. I told her she was a hoarder and she was, but I know why.

Because that hoarding came from overcompensating for all the years that she grew up post WW2 with no father and a widowed mother who had to somehow look after and feed 4 young children.

So Mum's early life, especially her teenage years where we all want to look our best, where full of sewn and re-sewn hand-me-downs.

Many of her belongings being handed down many times before they got to mum.

So when she married and had her own husband with an income, as a good wife of the 60's Australia, she wore her apron, managed the house and she looked after the books for dad business.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that she embezzled any money, not at all, I'm just saying that liked to liberate it and give it to the good folk at the local shops, or Readers bloody Digest.

Anyway, Much to Mum's annoyance- and many times her fury, I have been systematically cleaning out her cupboards over the past decade or so, categorising, cataloguing and wrapping all of the good stuff to keep, but throwing out so much more.

Now Mum is not here anymore, but I am still cleaning out her cupboards and much of it makes sense.

Much of it I can make sense of.

I know that we all like to pick up those pretty and unusual looking shells when we stroll along the sandy beaches- because they are amazing and some of them are so beautiful.

But the Rocks?!?!

I mean, yes the rocks are beautiful too. Infact I have a bit of a thing for rocks myself. I find them totally extraordinary, so incredibly unique and stunning.

BUT a shoebox full of rocks! Do you know how heavy that was?!

Dad doesn't know. He says that he didn't know that they were there at all and I happen to believe him because Mum was good at shoving things in cupboards and forgetting about them...

So if there are any #Geologists out there in #Hiveland, I would love to know what you think these rocks are. I know some of them are quartz and rose quartz, but I'm not sure on the rest.

And the funny thing is, obviously they are old, as in Millions, possibly even billions of years old and even here in this house, they are old too for they would have been in Mum's cupboards for atleast, ATLEAST 50 years.

#amazingnature and nature really is amazing isn't it.
