Hello friends and fellow Hiveans. Here today to show you can make things from nature. It's amazing that it can be too cold outside to do things. Than all of a sudden the weather turns and you can go out and enjoy it. For today's article I'm going to share a snowman I started on Wednesday. The weather here has been warmer and I have been documenting the snowman's fate each day.
Day 1
The snow was still sort of fluffy but a bit wet. I started rolling the head first than did the middle section. I saved the bottom for last. There's no particular reason why I did it this way. It's been awhile since I made one and usually I build from the bottom up.
So here we have the birth of the snowman, 24 January 2024. I didn't finish him on day one, to be honest I went with the flow and didn't plan what I was going to use for everything. Once I got everything stacked I began thinking about some fixtures for him.
I came to the conclusion I will use two flat rocks for his eyes. Hey I don't have any coal laying around, haha. For a hat, I just decided to use a black beanie. Nope no black top hat 🎩 laying around in the house. The arms are typical for a snow man, some branches. I have some brush and wood behind the fence. You can see it if you look beyond him. The only thing I added today that was planned was the carrot for his nose.
Day 2
Well the snowman lost a lot of weight since the day before. This is because it rained some this day. I think our snowman doesn't like to take showers.
Once I got off work I went to the snowman to finish some more detail. I folded up a throw blanket (one in bad shape) and made use of it as a scarf for the snowman. For his mouth and his breast buttons I used some fruit loops, haha. I felt that the snow man can't be a true one without a pipe. So I actually used some corn cobs with a few tooth picks to make it look like I pipe. No I did not shave a bowl or pierce a whole through the long shank, it's not functional, haha.
I'll admit something to you all. I had plans to make a snow women. I even had two nice shaped snow breast pieces put on but something else made this fail. I was going to make a dress out of leaves but the darn things would not stick. I would get one or two on it then the third one would make the other two fall. I wasn't about to buy hundreds of thumb tacks to make this happen. It would have taken forever but I think I could have pulled it off. Hair I was thinking of making out of dried leafs from a corn plant. That I could have made happen by tucking it under the beanie. There you go @jane1289 that was kind of my thoughts that didn't materialize for the promised snowman. If I would have pulled it off I would have named the snow women, Janie 😂 🤣 😂 Anyways we have the typical gender snow man.
Day 3
The temperature on Friday nearly reached 40° F (4.4° C). The snow man is still here but lost almost all the fruit loops. The pipe is also barely hanging on his face. A little thinner in the face and you can tell it's more sunken in.
Day 4
Oh no we have a one eyed snowman and he lost his pipe. His last eye is holding on for dear life. Same as yesterday the temperatures was about the same, but the sun was out. Hey it's pretty cool to see a shadow of a snowman, right? I bet our snowman is not a fan of shadows though, hehe.
I believe he will lose is other eye by tomorrow. I think his carrot nose will fall after that. I'm unsure about his arms and his head falling. The arms are stuck in there pretty good though so those may be the last thing to go.
I thought about fixing him everyday but I thought this would be more fun guessing when he meets his demise. How many more days do you think he will survive? I think he will make it four more days (Day 8).
Here is a screen shot from my weather bug app so you a have better educated guess when he becomes part of the ground snow. All these temperatures are in Fahrenheit. If it were Celsius he would surely be a puddle of water in no time, haha. Let's guess I want to hear your thoughts. I'll try to keep you posted on his status 😊
That's all I got today. For those that haven't seen a snow man in real life I hope you enjoyed it. Take care, stay safe and enjoy what's left of the weekend. Until next time!
