Snow Day: Thinking About the Heater and Japanese Children's Song
It's cold here. We had a snow day before yesterday. The snow stayed, but most of it melted. However, the temperature is still below 0 degrees. We didn't use our woodstove last night but relied on our heat pump. It's snowing again!
What types of heating systems are good for cold weather? We have a wood stove, panel heaters, and a heat pump, but no solar panels or other natural sources. I wish we had solar panels.
My dog loves playing in the snow. He doesn't mind the cold weather. He enjoys catching snowballs very much. He reminds me of an old Japanese kids' song called 'Yuki ya konko - 雪やこんこ' (Snow Falling Thickly). There's a line, 'The dog is running around the yard with joy (犬は喜び庭かけまわり).

雪の日：暖房や日本の童謡のことを考える
寒いです。一昨日は雪でした。ほとんどとけたのですが、まだ少し残っています。でも、気温は０度ぐらいで寒いです。昨晩は薪ストーブを使わずにエアコンの温風だけ使いました。また今日も雪が降っています。
寒い時期はどんな暖房システムがあるでしょうか。我が家は薪ストーブ、パネルヒーターとエアコンがあります。ただ、ソーラーパネルや自然のソースががありません。ソーラーパネルがあればいいのですが。
私の犬は雪で遊ぶのが大好きです。寒いのはへっちゃらです。雪玉をキャッチして遊ぶのがとても好きです。彼は童謡「雪やこんこ」に出てくる「犬は喜び庭かけまわり」の歌詞を思い出します。
