When you think of going for a walk in the south of Argentina, the first thing you think of is that it is very cold. This is true because these destinations are well known for their snowy seasons, but in some cities you can also enjoy warm summers without having to give up the mountain views. In addition, in this part of our country you can find a large number of crystal clear lakes that adorn every landscape. Of course, you should not wait for the water to be warm to go in because it is never like that, but if you are brave enough, you can take a good dip ❤️.
Cuando uno piensa en ir a pasear al sur de Argentina, lo primero que piensa es que hace mucho frío. Esto es cierto porque estos destinos son muy conocidos por sus temporadas de nieve, pero en algunas ciudades también se puede disfrutar de calurosos veranos sin tener que resignar las vistas a las montañas. Además, en esta parte de nuestro país se puede encontrar una gran cantidad de lagos cristalinos que terminan de adornar cada paisaje. Eso sí, no hay que esperar que el agua esté cálida para meterse porque esto nunca es así, pero si sos lo suficientemente valiente, podes darte un buen chapuzón ❤️.
To spend my summer working and traveling, I chose to go to the town of El Bolsón in the province of Río Negro. Near this town there is no big lake to cool off, but there is the big Blue River that runs parallel to the town where one can go to spend the afternoon. If your desire is to see a landscape with a large lake, you can go by public transport to the neighboring province of Chubut, where you will find Lago Puelo or Lago Epuyén. These two places are huge bodies of crystal clear water with pebble shores, perfect for swimming if you can stand the icy water 😃.
Para pasar mi verano trabajando y viajando, elegí ir al pueblo de El Bolsón en la provincia de Río Negro. Cerca de esta localidad no hay ningún gran lago para refrescarse, pero está el gran Río Azul que corre pararelo al pueblo en donde uno puede ir a pasar la tarde. Si tu deseo es ir a ver un paisaje con un gran lago, podes ir en transporte público hasta la provincia vecina de Chubut, en donde se encuentra el Lago Puelo o el Lago Epuyén. Estos dos lugares son enormes cuerpos de agua cristalina con costas de piedras, perfectos para nadar si soportas el agua helada 😃.
I could not choose which is more beautiful between Lago Puelo or Lago Epuyen, but I can say that I visited both several times. The big difference between the two is that Lago Puelo is inside a national park, while around part of Lago Epuyen there are family campsites, which attracts more people to its beaches. However, the lake is so large that there is plenty of space to spread out without being crowded. What people do is set up at the campsites but then go out to enjoy the water if the weather permits 😃.
No podría elegir cuál es más hermoso entre Lago Puelo o Lago Epuyen, pero sí puedo decir que visité varias veces a ambos. La gran diferencia entre ambos es que el Lago Puelo está dentro de un parque nacional, mientras que en los alrededores de una parte del Lago Epuyen hay campings familiares, lo que atrae a más gente a sus playas. Sin embargo, el lago es tan grande que hay bastante espacio para esparcirse sin estar amontonados. Lo que hacen las personas es instalarse en los campings pero luego salir a disfrutar del agua si el clima lo permite 😃.
In the surroundings of Lake Epuyen there are also spaces to spread out without having to pay to enter any of the campsites. This place, called Puerto Patriada, is one of the most touristic points used to access the lake. The truth is that this space has everything you need to spend a good afternoon: water if you wish but also mountains for a great scenery. This is what I like most about the south of Argentina and this is what makes it one of the most chosen destinations for everyone: its beauty at any time of the year 😃.
En los alrededores del Lago Epuyen también hay espacios para esparcirse sin necesidad de tener que pagar para entrar a alguno de los campings. Este lugar, llamado Puerto Patriada, es uno de los puntos más turísticos usados para acceder al lago. La verdad que este espacio tiene todo lo necesario para pasar una buena tarde: agua si lo deseas pero también montañas para un gran paisaje. Esto es lo que más me gusta del sur de Argentina y es lo que lo vuelve uno de los destinos más elegidos por todos: su hermosura en cualquier época del año 😃.
The good thing about traveling in high season was that there were buses to go to several tourist places, just paying a $2 ticket. After an hour leaving from El Bolsón, you could be in a landscape like this. Some people are still surprised to learn that it is warm enough to get in the water in the south, even in classic snowy cities like Bariloche. It is not necessary to travel to these places only in winter: summer is also a good time and has the best of the beach and the mountains ❤️.
Lo bueno que tuvo estar de viaje en temporada alta es que habían micros de línea para ir a varios lugares turísticos, solo pagando un boleto de $2. Después de una hora saliendo desde El Bolsón, podías estar en un paisaje como este. Hay quienes todavía se sorprenden cuando se enteran de que en el sur hace calor suficiente como para meterse al agua, incluso en ciudades clásicas de nieve como Bariloche. No es necesario ir de viaje a estos lugares solo en invierno: el verano también es una buena época y tiene lo mejor de la playa y la montaña ❤️.
