I decided to show some zoom shots of one of our mountains for you to enjoy.
A lone Jackal Buzzard flew into one of the mountain's valleys.
I have always only shown this mountain from a distance, as it lends a great backdrop to the grape vineyards. But in here I have concentrated more on a closer look at the mountain peaks. It is a very old mountain with a granite rock base and over the centuries sandstone layers were built on the granite foundation.
So let's have a look.
The sky was overcast and occasionally the sun found a gap in the clouds to light up some areas of the peaks.
Those are all fully grown trees in the valleys.
This is to show you the sandstone layers that were formed on the granite base.
Our Jackal Buzzard in one of the other valleys.
A mountain climber would be the size of an ant on these peaks.
Look at the sandstone layers that were formed here below.
Finally I had to show you some gentle slopes towards the right hand side of the main mountain.
We have an entire mountain range that continues from this mountain and it forms a bay of the ocean at the front. It is in this bay where we live and I have the best of both worlds, the mountains and the sea to get photos.
Nature on the eastern side and ocean on the western side. Mountain passes at the southern side and the big city of Cape Town at the northern side. There are also many other mountains as one travels inland and also many mountain passes with fantastic views.
At the moment I am hassling the local airport chief to organize me a helicopter tour of the area and let's hope that my pleas will work, as I would love to be up there in the sky, on a slow cruise with a camera in my hand.
I hope that you have enjoyed the show of the peaks and the story.
And That's All Friends.
