Discovering the Beauty of Nature: A Way to Relaxation!
ā Oprah Winfrey
How are you feeling right now? Some of us are stressed and some are relaxed. Join me and take a glance at my second blog. I discovered a peaceful and captivating beauty of nature while trying to relax. On the 17th day of July, I visited an undeveloped and untouched place with no entrance fee where everyone is free to explore and discover the surroundings beauty. This place is located near Banyan Spring. What helps us relax in that place is the fresh air blowing on our skin, along with the tranquility that gradually eases the burdens in our hearts and minds.
Freshen Up by the Sea Breeze
Truly, the gentle and fresh air gives us comfort and a relaxing feeling. By looking at the natural beauty that God has created to make the environment perfect, we can possibly realize how lovely our place is. This is the day when I gave myself a relaxation free from worries, problems, and stress. I know that once I return home, everything goes back to reality. But I am trying to eliminate that feeling by smelling the fresh air that surrounds me. Allowing myself to breath deeply and thinking all the good memories.
Amazing Rocks by the Sea
As I waited by the low tide to pick some shells, I noticed the rocks behind me and they captivated my attention, making me want to take pictures of them. One rock had a hole big enough for my head when I stood next to it. While others may see it as an ordinary rock, to me it is extraordinary and worthy of appreciation. I continued to stroll around the area and noticed different rock formations; some looked like caves, while others resembled balls. All of them were fascinating in our eyes.
Gleaning for Shellfish and Seashells
I used to gather seashells before when I was single and available, (LOL) because my birthplace is in Maslog, Tabogon, Cebu where Banyan Cold Spring is located. The place is near the coastal area and previously, the livelihood of the people were mainly fishermen. After many years, I returned to visit the place. I was excited, so I brought my plastic tumbler to try and catch some seashells. As I moved closer to the sea, I started to scan and focus my sight on the water, hoping to find seashells. Bending my hips, walking back and forth, maybe if I counted my steps, it reached a thousand. This caused pain in my legs and back, and I only found a few seashells. It's not easy to find shells in the water because I've noticed that their numbers are decreasing. I did not see a sea urchin, and sea cucumbers are becoming scarce.
Different Starfishes in the Water
I finally decided to stop gleaning and walked slowly to the shore as I met different starfishes with different colors and sizes. I wonder what their purpose is, why God created them. They are not edible; maybe they beautify the surroundings. I've seen different sea anemones and seaweeds in the water. I did not pick them because I know they will die if they are not in the sea water.
My Realization after Gleaning
As a concerned citizen, we should take our part in taking care of the sea. People should not use dynamite fishing. We should not throw garbage into the water, use small fish nets, or any poisonous chemicals to catch fish. This is because, as I have observed, the sea creatures are decreasing in number and can no longer sustain the needs of the people. There will be nothing left for our next generation. What about our grandchildren? Will they be able to experience eating seashells in the future? By spreading information to everybody, we can achieve our goal. Let us help one another in nurturing our aquatic environment. It is not too late to start today, so hivers, let's start saving our mother earth!
