A few weeks ago, a small fire occurred in a forest near my house. Two days later, I decided to investigate what had happened. During that small exploration, I encountered some fascinating examples of nature’s resilience. Armed only with my phone, I captured images for my collection that show the regeneration of new life over the ashes. I share my favorites so that we can appreciate the beauty and strength that surrounds us in nature.
Burnt Bark
The first image I captured was a close-up shot of the bark of an old tree that couldn’t withstand the onslaught of the flames. The completely black surface showed deep cracks, reminding us of the destructive power of fire in its path. The pattern of cracks extended along the remains of the trunk, giving a sad and overwhelming image at the same time, exuding the aroma of ashes and moisture.
Fungi on Burnt Wood
As I explored further, I found that several fungi were growing right on the burnt wood. These almost white, pale, and creamy fungi clustered in bunches over the entire surface. Although I am not an expert in fungi, I did some research and believe they might belong to the Agaricaceae family, which are species that grow on decaying wood. Undoubtedly, they are a testament to life’s ability to grow even in the most adverse conditions, a faithful demonstration of renewal and adaptability.
The Solitary Fungus
A small solitary fungus with a very thin stem, a curved and wide cap, was growing on a bed of decomposing grass. It was a small white and brown spot in the middle of nowhere, and questions about how it got there overwhelmed me. Nature always manages to surprise us with its diversity alongside its uniqueness and beauty. Every small detail is a wonder that wants to be discovered, but at the same time, preserved and protected. After a little research and with fear of being wrong, according to its characteristics, it could belong to the Amanita genus, which shares these characteristics.
Final Words
This small journey left me with more desire to continue venturing into the forest, getting lost among trees and bushes, capturing all the beauty in photographs, and sharing them to encourage others to go out and explore the nature that also surrounds them. To take advantage of that inexhaustible source of inspiration and learning, and that each step be an opportunity to admire, protect, discover, and learn from nature.

Fuego y Fungi
Hace unas semanas ocurrió un pequeño incendio en un monte cercano a mi casa. Dos días después, decidí ir a investigar qué había pasado. Durante esa pequeña exploración, me encontré con algunos fascinantes ejemplos de resiliencia de la naturaleza. Armado solo con mi móvil, capturé imágenes para mi colección que muestran la regeneración de nueva vida sobre las cenizas. Comparto mis favoritas para que podamos apreciar la belleza y fuerza que nos rodea en la naturaleza.
Corteza Quemada
La primera imagen que capturé fue una toma cercana a la corteza de un viejo árbol que no soportó el embiste de las llamas. La superficie, totalmente negra, mostraba profundas grietas, recordando el poder destructivo del fuego a su paso. El patrón de grietas se extendía a lo largo de los restos del tronco, dando una imagen triste y sobrecogedora a la vez, destilando aroma a cenizas y humedad.
Hongos Sobre la Madera Quemada
Mientras exploraba más, me encontré con que varios hongos estaban creciendo justo en la madera quemada. Estos hongos, casi blancos, pálidos y cremosos, se amontonaban en racimos sobre toda la superficie. Aunque no soy experto en hongos, investigué un poco y creo que podrían pertenecer a la familia Agaricaceae, que son especies que crecen sobre la madera en descomposición. Sin dudas, son un testimonio de la capacidad de la vida de crecer incluso en las condiciones más adversas, una fiel demostración de renovación y adaptabilidad.
El Hongo Solitario
Un pequeño hongo solitario de tallo muy delgado, sombrero curvo y ancho crecía sobre una cama de pasto en descomposición. Era una pequeña mancha blanca y café en medio de la nada, y las preguntas de cómo llegó a ese lugar me invadieron. La naturaleza siempre logra sorprendernos con esa diversidad a la par de singularidad y belleza que la caracteriza. Cada pequeño detalle es una maravilla que quiere ser descubierta, pero a la vez conservada y protegida. Después de una pequeña investigación y con temor a equivocarme, según sus características podría pertenecer al género Amanita, que comparte estas características.
