Very good Tuesday hivers, here I continue with the scrunchies fever, today I bring you the step by step of the one I learned recently, it is one of those tutorials for sewing apprentices. First let's go with the materials: scissors, chiffon fabric, threads, needle, elastic, pins. It is a double ruffle scrunchie, they are very different from the traditional ones, they are very beautiful and as we are to shine here I share with you step by step so that you are encouraged.
First cut a rectangle of fabric, according to the desired size, in this case I made the mini scrunchie: 75 cm by 10 cm. Then, I closed it by joining the ends, once there I made a hem around the hem on both sides, and folded it again to make another one, because being double, it gives it more firmness once crumpled.
Now, we fold in half, with the help of pins we hold the center, and we are going to sew in straight stitch, leaving a small space for the channel where the elastic goes through with the help of a pin or hook, first I hold the tip of the elastic with a pin in the fabric and with another step through the channel, so it does not come loose and you have to start again, it has happened to me, infinite times.
In this step we join the ends of the elastic and tie, trim the excess and keep the knot through the channel, it is time to close the channel with the same straight stitch. Once ready, we make sure that the seam is within the diameter, we clean the remains of thread or fabric and give the final touch to the double ruffle by opening it a little.
