Hello, fashionistas.
Do you find it frustrating working with lycra, mesh, or stretchy fabrics?
How do you manage to sew overly stretchy far, I know how frustrating it can be when you are trying to run a stitch only to find out that the stitch keeps skipping.
Well, while learning how to sew, my boss taught me different methods but today, I will be sharing just one method.
So for today, I present to you tips on sewing a stretchy fabric.
This fabric I will be working with is called the #Dewdrop Fabrics.
How to identify? It looks pleated, stretchy, and silky.
For the sake of sharing this helpful tip, I sort out one dewdrop fabric just to share with you how I manage to sew on it.
I tried making something that isn't time-consuming at all.
So, I chose a free dress, on collage one, that's my fabric raw, waiting to be worked on.
In collage two, I cut a free dress with sleeves joined together.
College three and dour, I've cut both front and back.
Trying to sew on this fabric was a struggle, the stitches kept skipping so I came up with this.
A candle!!
The trick here is, never stretch stretchy fabrics while stitching on it, it will frustrate you.
The next trick is, to trace the line you have marked to stitch on using a candle.
This helps the fabric to be less stretchy and very easy to sew on. And do not forget trick one.
The next trick is to set your machine to make secure stitches which means removing it from the gathers setting/adjusting your tension.
Ensure your thread sits probably in the bobbin.
Now all you need to do is pedal your machine tracing the line you've created with your candle, try this and sew how effortlessly you would sew on a stretchy fabric.
You might also decide to double your stitch if you wish.
Next time, I will share method two on how to sew on a stretchy fabric.
Okay, after using my candle method, the outfit came out nicely.
I will be giving this outfit out to my cousin since I had no intention to wear it, I just made it for sharing this tip.
I hope you enjoyed reading and thanks for your time.
What other method do you use while sewing a stretchy fabric? I would love to learn new methods too if you do not mind, until I share another post here, do stay safe.
