Bienvenidos a mi blog amigas costureras 🧵💖 | Welcome to my blog, sewing friends 🧵💖

Today I was going through some of the clothes I have in my closet, meaning my dresses for Sunday get-togethers, and the truth is that these days I've been a bit light on sewing work for my clients, so I decided to take the time to check out some of the clothes I want to remodel that are too short for me. Among my long dresses, there are skirts that are also long, so I wanted to use them to make a dress precisely because this skirt was too wide for my body. My idea was to remodel it and turn it into a simple dress that I know I can wear much more than my own skirt, especially because sometimes I can't find how to combine it or with what.
It then occurred to me to transform this skirt into a simple long dress with another scrap of black fabric that I had from a short skirt. The idea was to make the bust part with that fabric with short sleeves but continuous, that is, cut completely at once without having to cut the armhole and sleeve separately. So before I get excited telling you the process, see that I will explain a little more in the following steps how to do it and transform your own clothes in the comfort of your home.

Materiales: | Materials:
- Usaremos la falda a transformar
- Herramienta corta hilos para desarmar el elástico de la falda (este trabajo pueden hacerlo antes de cortar las piezas de la falda)
- Hilo y Tijera
- Máquinas de coser
- Elástico de 1 cm de ancho x 70 cm
- We will use the skirt to be transformed
- Thread cutter to undo the elastic from the skirt (you can do this before cutting the skirt pieces)
- Thread and Scissors
- Sewing Machine
- Elastic 1 cm wide x 70 cm

Pasos a seguir: | Steps to follow:
Paso 01
Step 01
We start by disassembling as I mentioned before by cutting or disassembling the elastic that the skirt has, then with a blouse that I know fits me well we will use it to make the cut of the sizes of the bust part, then we take our scrap of black fabric and fold it approximately the distance of the other blouse taking into account that you have to leave 1 cm of seam allowance and proceed to cut, when we go up to the sleeve part I simply cut it straight without cutting the armhole and cut the shoulders and neck, we cut the bias piece the same width as the neck and 4 cm wide, as my skirt is wide I cut 5 cm wide almost to the bottom while cutting I was reducing the amount of cut of my skirt, these are the corresponding pieces that I will use to start sewing.
Paso 02
Step 02
We start by sealing our skirt where we cut it. I will overlock and straight stitch it. Then I will take the blouse piece and sew the shoulders. We will seal them with overlock and straight stitching to reinforce my overlock thread so it doesn't open.
Paso 03
Step 03
We seal the edge part of my bust piece and finish it with a straight seam, I will sew the edge of the sleeves and make a 1 cm hem for the hem of each one, it is time after locating our neck bias and to guide us I will make a small "V" shaped cut in the back of the dress blouse by folding it in half, then we will take the bias, join it, fold it and place it from the outside in and sew the edge of the same neck without stretching, we do not stretch because the fabric I used is somewhat hard, if we use a softer fabric that stretches, it would be necessary to stretch just a little.
Paso 04
Step 04
We will sew the blouse to the skirt and while we are sewing the skirt I will simply make small 1 cm tabs to give it a little more volume, then we will sew the elastic by cutting 30 cm and we will sew it inside stretching little by little, to be able to take out more of the waist of the dress I sewed two turns of elastic under the waist or the union of the skirt and the blouse, that's how I finished it, I hope you like the final results a lot. 🥰
