Another nostalgic post from me for today's @needlworkmonday post hosted by @crosheille.
Several years ago a friend of mine bought the cutest little Shasta camper. It was when I was full on making embroidered gifts for just about anyone for anything!
In hindsight, I wish I'd have used a sturdier fabric as this light cotton tended to pull and I had to be careful not to pull my stitches too tight.
My lines are not straight, and my sketch (as always) was lacking, but I find once you start filling spaces in, it sort of comes together.
With this piece I was trying very hard to be sure the back was not a mess. I was not planning to put a backing on it. Not to toot my own horn but this was by far the cleanest piece I had done!
As you can see, my little 'travel kit' is a mess, so 'TIDY' is NOT my middle name! haha
There were a lot of stitches, in the end, so it was maybe not as clean as it could've been. But it's a handmade gift, so I knew it wouldn't really matter to my friend.
And the finished product came out SO CUTE! (I think)
Sadly, my friend decided to sell her cute little camper this past summer. She said they hardly got to use it and thought it silly to keep it. They sold it, actually, to another mutual friend of ours. I asked her if she kept the gift or if it was part of the camper.
She said, 'Of course I kept it!!'
