Hello everyone
Happy new week and a beautiful Monday to you all in this community @needleworkmonday and hive at large, I hope you had a beautiful weekend, wishing you all a great and productive week with greater achievement. It's Monday and we are all here to show case our creativity, it is my pleasure to share with you today the making of this simple double pocket wallet for my cousin for her cards and phone, I'm sure you will like the beautiful outcome.
My cousin got a new job recently and as a lady, she will always be going out with her cards and phone in her bag, so she was thinking of getting a wallet then she thought about me helping her to make one which will serve the same purpose and also help her to cut cost, this wallet is very useful for our phone and wallet as it will help to protect the cards and phone from being scratched by other items in the bag, she requested for the wallet and I felt so glad to help her out, since I will be using pieces of left over fabrics to get it done.
To get this done, let's get started with the cutting and sewing process.
I cut out 2 pieces of 9 x 14" from two different fabrics, one as the main fabric and the other as lining
I ironed interfacing on the main fabric and set it aside then i cut out 2 pieces of 9 x 9.5" on same fabric for the pockets
Each of the pieces were folded in two and I ironed interfacing at the middle, the same was repeated on the other one as well
Both were folded and sewn at the top
One of it was placed on the lining and sewn at the bottom of the lining while the other was placed 1" interval and sewn down
It was flip up and top stitched on to cover the rough part while the other was sewn at the middle to have two pocket for cards.
For the handle, I cut 14 x 2" of the main fabric, it was folded and sewn on both sides.
The handle was placed by the side of the pocket while the main fabric was placed on the lining right side to right side and it was sewn together with a curve at the top leaving an opening at the bottom where it can be turned inside out.
The excess were trimmed off and it was turned inside out through the opening at the bottom
It was ironed and top stitched round
Finally, I used a hand needle and thread to fix a pressing button at the middle and the wallet was folded for the other pressing button.
This is the final outcome when folded, I hope you like the cards and phone wallet I made for my cousin.
Now my cousin can have her cards, phone and cash well secure and safe in her bag.
