Oooooooh we're half way there!!!! Gosh this has been an interesting project. It is by far the fastest scarf I've knitted to far, and I have not really been able to find a balance between urgency and quality, with a few dropped stitches along the way that I am only discovering many rows later.
They can be fixed, but it doesn;t look terribly tidy. But I suppose it's better than a gaping hole. It's incredible how dropping just one stitch can have such a massive impact on ones knitting! So no matter how hasty you are, remember that rhyme: "A stitch in time saves nine!"
My hastiness has been fueled by the horribly cold weather that has befallen the Cape. It
s had me shivering in my own bed to the point where I can see my own breath!! Winter is definitely upon us, in full force, and Meren has been borrowing his dad's Oogieliboo to keep warm, as mentioned in my previous post. I just think about him travelling in the cold. He, by far, has the longest journey out of all three kids and I desperately want to protect him from the elements and keep him warm as best I can!
Well, I am very happy to say that I am half way there and have moved onto my second ball of wool. I also made the switch because the tail end of the 1st ball got horribly knotted! I actually threw it away in my little bedside bin because I don't have the patience to unravel it, but @zakludick managed to untangle it in about 20 minutes with the help of @merenludick and Lexi!
Lol.
Lexi has fallen in love with the scarf, which is cute and all, but also highly annoying as I have to keep tugging at it to make progress and then she gets all grumpy because I keep disturbing her slumber! I mean, I make her a special bed out of completed scarves every day, which she purrs and kneads at for about five seconds and then chooses another spot to sleep: Mostly on my knitting!!!!
A rare photo of her actually sleeping on her bed!
I am very excited to see what the finished scarf will look like with Meren's uniform. It is already pretty long, at 160 rows of navy after the stripes, yellow at 15 rows and white at 25 rows and then the beginning navy of 25 stiches, which I will have to repeat but in reverse as I get to the end of the next 160 navy stitches … phew! (I'm typing that here to keep count for myself too).
Hopefully I will be done soon so I can start work on my own Oogieliboo!
