Hola amigos de #needleworkmonday. Un día más para exponer ante ustedes mi más reciente creación. En esta ocasión mi proyecto es una evocación. Hace algunos años en Venezuela se puso de moda una canción y su video. Trataba simplemente de un pollito llamado Pío que nombraba a todos los animales que estaban en la radio y de manera muy trágica fue silenciado. Es muy gracioso, todos queríamos tenerlo como tono en nuestros teléfonos, nos compartíamos el vídeo y lo disfrutábamos bastante. En realidad también es un muy buen ejercicio para fortalecer el abdomen, ejercitar la memoria y sonreír.
Hello #needleworkmonday friends. One more day to expose to you my most recent creation. This time my project is an evocation. Some years ago in Venezuela a song and its video became fashionable. It was simply about a little chick named Pio who named all the animals that were on the radio and in a very tragic way he was silenced. It's very funny, we all wanted to have it as a ringtone on our phones, we shared the video with each other and enjoyed it a lot. Actually it is also a very good exercise to strengthen the abdomen, exercise the memory and smile.
Recordando esos momentos en los que me reí tanto quise recrear al pollito Pío. En esta oportunidad lo realicé saliendo de su cascarón, un tiempo antes de que usara sus audífonos y se volviera famoso.
Remembering those moments when I laughed so much, I wanted to recreate Pio the chick. This time I made him coming out of his shell, a time before he used his hearing aids and became famous.
Para hacerlo utilicé mis hilos pabilos, la aguja de crochet de 2,5 mm, la aguja lanera, algodón para rellenar, ojos locos, pegamento y tijeras.
To make it I used my pabilos yarns, 2.5 mm crochet needle, wool needle, cotton for stuffing, crazy eyes, glue and scissors.
A pesar de ser un tejido sencillo estuve largas horas en mi espacio de trabajo. Hacía mucho calor por lo que hice pausas con frecuencia para tomar agua y mojarme la cara.
Despite being a simple fabric I spent long hours in my workspace. It was very hot so I took frequent breaks to drink water and wet my face.
Para hacer al pollito Pío empecé tejiendo un am con 6pb en color blanco. Luego hice una vuelta de 6aumentos de pb. La siguiente vuelta la tejí con 1pb-1aum. La que sigue 2pb-1aum, la siguiente 3pb-1aumento. Luego tejí sin aumentos tres vueltas en color blanco y dos en amarillo. La primera que tejí en amarillo la hice tomando solo la hebra de atrás del punto de la vuelta anterior. Seguidamente inicié con las disminuciones. Al llegar a la vuelta donde quedo con 6pb empiezo de nuevo el mismo proceso solo con color amarillo. Esta parte será la cabeza del Pollito.
To make Pio the chick I started by knitting an am with 6 sts in white. Then I knit a row of 6 bp increases. The next row I knit with 1pb-1aum. The next 2pb-1aum, the following 3pb-1aum. Then I knit three rows in white and two in yellow without increases. The first one I knit in yellow I knitted taking only the back strand of the stitch from the previous row. Then I started with the decreases. When I reach the row where I have 6 stitches left, I start again the same process only with yellow color. This part will be the head of the chick.
A esta altura del proyecto hice una pausa larga para disfrutar de una merienda que me regaló mi hijo. Son tocinetas con miel. Muy sabrosas. También me comí un helado de fresa con leche condensada y chocolate. Enseguida continué con mi proyecto.
At this point in the project I took a long break to enjoy a snack my son gave me. They are tocinetas with honey. Very tasty. I also had a strawberry ice cream with condensed milk and chocolate. Then I continued with my project.
Tejí sus dos bracitos, iniciando con un am de 6 pb realicé 6 vueltas de 6pb. Cerré y dejé la hebra para coser al cuerpo. Hice su piquito con hilo anaranjado; dos vueltas de 6pb. Marqué con alfileres el lugar donde irían sus ojos. También tejí con hilo blanco la otra parte del cascarón que va sobre su cabeza.
Tanto esta parte del cascarón como lo que sobresale en el cascarón del cuerpo lo tejí haciendo abanicos de 3 puntos altos.
I knitted her two little arms, starting with an am of 6 stitches and knit 6 rows of 6 stitches. I closed and left the yarn to sew to the body. I knitted her booties with orange yarn; two rounds of 6pb. I marked with pins where her eyes would go. I also knitted with white yarn the other part of the shell that goes over her head.
I knitted this part of the shell as well as the protruding part of the shell on the body, making fans of 3 high stitches.
Primero le hice los ojos cerrados con hilo color negro. Simulando al pollito recién nacido.
First I made the closed eyes with black thread. Simulating the newborn chick.
Después pensé que este Pollito es muy alegre y divertido así que le puse unos ojitos bien abiertos y movibles. Me gustó mucho más con estos ojitos. Los pegué al tejido y así se ve mi pollito Pío.
Then I thought that this Chick is very cheerful and funny so I put some wide open and movable eyes. I liked it much better with these little eyes. I glued them to the fabric and this is what my Pío looks like.
Cuando estamos muy jóvenes y actuamos de forma impetuosa nuestros padres nos advierten sobre las consecuencias de cómo nos compartamos y en ocasiones los oímos decir "usted todavía no ha salido del cascarón y ya quiere volar". Mientras tejía al pollito recordé esas palabras de mi papá. Él fue siempre sabio, tenía una manera muy particular de llamarnos la atención. En cierto modo le doy la razón, los muchachos de ahora se creen que se las saben todas. Aún no abren sus ojos al mundo completamente y se creen dueños de él.

When we are very young and act impetuously, our parents warn us about the consequences of how we behave and sometimes we hear them say "you haven't hatched yet and you want to fly. While I was knitting the chick I remembered those words of my dad. He was always wise, he had a very particular way of calling our attention. In a way I agree with him, kids nowadays think they know it all. They have not yet opened their eyes to the world completely and they think they own it.
