Hey lovelies ā¤ļø
It's your favorite girl @debbie-ese š
Welcome to my blog š¤
The routine maintenance of my sewing machine have been long overdue for months but I kept pushing it back hoping to get some free time that I can conveniently service them but the machines have other plans. They practically stopped working at the same time which necessitated the maintenance.
The industrial sewing machine had been showing signs of possible break down for a while now from strange noises to constant needle breakage among others but I didn't pay attention. Until it gave up completely and stopped sewing. At this point I had to fall back to my manual machine which I'm sure of always having my back at moments like this. But just when I needed it most it started acting up. I discovered that after some hours it started gathering threads around the needle area each time I pedaled.
This was the point I had no choice than to quickly contact the sewing machine repair technician that I have been avoiding for many months. I called him on Friday and he promised to be at my workshop before 9am, unfortunately he didn't show up throughout that day.
I spent the whole day sitting frustrated in the shop because I couldn't do any work considering how much work have got to do as deadlines are fast approaching. He promised to come the next day after so much appeal to him about my inability to function effectively in my shop and for a moment, it almost felt like a repeat of the previous day.
He didn't show up until after some minutes past 4pm after so many calls and messages I sent him on WhatsApp. In short, Saturday was another day of idleness though I seized the opportunity to carry out other household chores and watch movies. He apologised for the delay and explained to me that he had other appointments scheduled for yesterday and today but he was thinking he would finish on time to attend to me.
He immediately dropped his tool bag and started working on my industrial machine. He used his brush to clean particles that have gathered inside the machine, applied oil to the moving parts and tightened some lose screws. I also called his attention to the small light on the machine that helps me see clearly when sewing in dim lighting. He discovered that the wire connecting to the light was loosed and he fixed it.
Then, he began to work on the manual machine that had the issue of tangling threads at the needle area when you pedal. After he checked it he discovered the fault and told me it has to be replaced. I gave him some money and he dashed out to buy the part and returned to fix it.
That is how that problem was solved. He then continued with the general servicing of the other parts of the machine. He then serviced my weaving machine too. The weaving machine doesn't have any issue but it was right to was also serviced too.
Though my business was inactive for about two days I'm elated that everything has now been taken care of and work would begin smoothly on Monday. All my machines are now in good order now and it feels like a fresh start.
However, during these moments of inactivity I had some time to reflect on the importance of regular routine maintenance. I'm sure henceforth I would not have to wait until the machine break down at the same time before I conduct my routine maintenance.
Thanks for reading and see you in my next one.
