This is a snapshot of the tube socks I began back in May. You may remember when they looked like this:
I created a design that is radially symmetric (math teacher talk meaning they are identical as you spin them around an axis though the center of the space inside the sock.) After the spiral ribbing I did heel stitch for the ball of the foot (that is usually where my socks wear out) and finished with a round toe. My theory is that these socks will wear evenly because there is no top, bottom, or side. Time will tell.
I was making great progress until I got sidetracked by these socks:
Now I aim to complete both the sidelined tube socks and the mate to the flower trellis boot socks before the end of this challenge. If all goes well, I might even get back to the lace mesh stockings and the textured kilt hose/trachtensocken I started before the move from North Carolina to Illinois.
I pledge to banish "second sock syndrome" and make sure all my socks have a mate ASAP. The key is to resist the temptation to start yet another pair of socks before finishing these.
