This dress is intended for a baby, small in size and I thought it would take less time to complete than the wide, long
skirt for adults, which I was able to finish in just a week and share here last Monday. I was so confident in my ability to complete this baby dress on time and be able to share the update of this WIP here. But I was mistaken.
My eldest son was scheduled to take his 1st vaccine for covid-19 last Friday. He only experienced numbness in his left shoulder (where it was vaccinated).

So, this was how it looks like when I presented it to you last time, almost finished. But as I was about to work on it, I realized that it looks small and I'm afraid it may not fit a 1-year-old baby.

Back to my WIP, I decided to undo the lower portion and increase its width by increasing the number of double crochet on the underarm portion. I put some stitch markers for me to know where to put the shell stitch and divide them into equal parts. These markers were only given free whenever I ordered yarns from my favorite seller of yarns in Shopee an (online shop in the Philippines). And they are very useful.

I also changed the bottom design which is almost the same as the skirt I made last week so I can increase the measurement as I go along the way.

So here you will notice that after I made 4 layers of 2-layered-shell-stitch, #s 1-4 (I just given it a name because I don't know what you call it ๐ but hoping someone can enlighten me on this part), I made the 3-layered-shell stitch, #s 5-9 (hoping you understand what I mean๐ ) and on the #10 shell stitch, the 4th layer were made of picots and double crochet.

Next, to accentuate our little dress and give more emphasis to the edging (armhole and neck portion), we use a rust color of yarn (darker color) and make some tassels on both ends of the ties.

Then again, I undo the last part to change the yarn color into rust. I find it boring to use only 1 plain color. As you have noticed that I like to use different colors in one project. ๐ฅฐ

So here's the outcome after finishing this wip. Finally, I'm done with the 2nd one. It means, two down, more to go.
But honestly, it seems that something is lacking in this dress. I can't specify what is it, but if you're given a chance to add something to this dress, what will it be? I would appreciate and respect any opinions and suggestions that you will make.
But overall, it looks quite good to me. Anyway, thank you for reaching 'this end.
Love lots,
