ENG / ESP A new experience knitting with rag. / Una nueva experiencia tejiendo con trapillo.

What a pleasure to greet you once again. I missed the needle Monday and believe me, I did everything I could to finish my project, but I didn't get to it. First, it rarely happens to me, but I always bring ahead the projects to share on Mondays, from the weekend, but this time, I was confident, I had already bought the yarn, which I finally got in a nearby store and I really wanted to use it. But taking into account the thickness of the material I assumed that it would go very fast in the weaving and it certainly is, but of course having the experience in the use of the trapillo.

Que gusto saludarles una vez. Me perdí el lunes de agujas y créanme, hice todo lo que estaba en mis manos para terminar mi proyecto, pero no alcancé. Primero, pocas veces me pasa, pero siempre traigo adelantados los proyectos para compartir los lunes, desde el fin de semana, pero está vez, me confié, ya tenía comprado el trapillo, que finalmente conseguí en una tienda cercana y tenía muchas ganas de usarlo. Pero teniendo en cuenta el grosor del material supuse que se avanzaba muy rápido en el tejido y ciertamente es así, pero por supuesto que teniendo la experiencia en el uso del trapillo.

Initially I wanted to make a small purse for Rafaella, and the weaving was loose and sloppy. I didn't like the result at all and I abandoned it. I started from scratch, but first I did a little research on how to use rag and I learned that there is a stitch called centred single crochet that allows the needle to pass through the center of the stitch and not through the inside of the chain, forming a kind of chain similar to that of a basket.

Inicialmente quería realizar una pequeña cartera para Rafaella, y el tejido me quedaba flojo y desprolijo. Para nada me gustó el resultado y lo abandoné. Empecé de cero, pero antes investigué un poco sobre el manejo del trapillo y aprendí que hay un punto que se llama punto bajo centrado y que permite que al pasar la aguja por el centro de punto y no por dentro de la cadena, se va formando una especie de cadena parecida al de una cesta.

Once I understood this stitch, I started the new weaving and it has more structure, but I didn't like the fastening and I also abandoned this weaving. I have to keep looking until I can find the material that clearly shows how to close the loops so that the work is beautifully finished.

Una vez que entendí este punto, comencé el nuevo tejido y queda con más estructura, pero no me gustó el cierre y también abandoné este tejido. Tengo que seguir indagando hasta que pueda dar con el material que muestra de forma clara cómo ir cerrando las vueltas para que el trabajo quedé hermosamente acabado.

I finally opted to make a basket with a round base, but when I was halfway through, a friend came to visit me and I had to put the weaving aside. Between chatting and drinking coffee, then dinner and tidying up, there was no way I could finish my project. However, this morning, as soon as I got back from the parents' meeting at my children's school, I set out to finish my project for today.

Finalmente optéa por hacer una cesta con base redonda, pero cuando iba a la mitad, llegó una amiga a visitarme y tuve que dejar a un lado el tejido. Entre conversar y tomar café, luego cenar y hacer orden, de ninguna manera pude terminar mi proyecto. Sin embargo, está mañana, apenas regresé de la reunión de padres en el colegio de mis niños, me dispuse a terminar mi proyecto de hoy.

I made a little faster progress, although not as finished as I would like. I made some points on the sides to simulate the feathers of an owl and also, eyes and beak with crochet thread.

Avancé un poco más rápido, aunque no con los acabados que me gustaría. Le hice unas puntas a los lados para simular las plumas de un búho y también, ojos y pico con hilo crochet.

I wasn't so happy with the knitting, but when I placed the features, everything changed and I could see how pretty it is. Certainly there is a lot of room for improvement, like the fact that the rows of stitches should be vertical and I was left a little bit tilted to the left. If you ask me if I liked the experience, I would say not very much, maybe the rag I chose is very stretchy and tends to tighten up, so you feel tension throughout the knitting. Or it could simply be that, because of my limited experience, I don't know how to handle it properly. Still, I liked the final result, see you next time.

No estaba tan conforme con el tejido, pero al colocar los rasgos, todo cambió y pude ver lo bonito que es. Ciertamente hay mucho que mejorar, como el hecho de que las filas de puntos debe quedar vertical y a mí me quedaron un poco inclinadas a la izquierda. Si me preguntan si me gustó la experiencia, diría que no mucho, tal vez el trapillo que elegí es muy elástico y tiende a apretarse, así que se siente tensión durante todo el tejido. O puede ser que simplemente, por mi escasa experiencia, no lo sé manejar correctamente. Aún así, me gustó el resultado final. Hasta una próxima ocasión.
