It is always a pleasure to meet here like every Monday, share the projects we have been working on and know a little about how our week has been. But this Monday has a little more special touch because today our Work In Progress Challenge begins! This challenge invites us to continue with those projects that we have left abandoned for a long time, either because they were too complex to finish, because we had run out of material to continue or simply because we decided to continue with something else. Buenas tardes, queridos amigos de nuestra hermosa comunidad Needle Work Monday ❣️. Siempre es un placer reunirnos aquí como cada lunes, compartir los proyectos en los que hemos estado trabajando y saber un poco de cómo ha estado nuestra semana. Pero este lunes tiene un toque un poco más especial porque hoy empieza nuestro ¡Desafío Work In Progress! Este desafío nos invita a continuar con aquellos proyectos que hemos dejado abandonados durante largo tiempo, ya sea porque eran muy complejos para terminar, porque nos habíamos quedado sin material para continuarlo o simplemente porque decidimos continuar con otra cosa. Sea cual sea su origen, ahora es momento de darle la oportunidad que se merece para poder terminarlo. Si aún no lo has visto, puedes revisar esta publicación 😀.
Well, in my case I must say that as I always do small projects of lingerie, doll clothes or simple alterations to the day of the date I hardly have any unfinished projects. Generally, I do everything in a single afternoon, where I concentrate until I finish what I'm doing. But even though I sew regularly, it seems like this isn't enough for my fabrics boxes because it always looks too full. That is why, stirring and stirring the fabrics, I decided to participate in this challenge by proposing 3 projects that (I hope) will encourage me to continue emptying the boxes a little 😅.
Bueno, en mi caso debo decir que como siempre hago proyectos pequeños de lencería, ropa de muñecas o simples arreglos al día de la fecha casi no tengo ningún proyecto sin terminar. Generalmente todo lo hago en una sola tarde, en donde me concentro hasta terminar lo que estoy haciendo. Pero a pesar de que coso regularmente, pareciera que esto no es suficiente para mis cajas de telas porque siempre se ven demasiado llenas. Es por eso que revolviendo y revolviendo las telas decidí participar en este desafio proponiendo 3 proyectos que (espero) me incentiven a continuar vaciando un poco las cajas 😅.
Project #1 / Projecto #1
This is perhaps the unfinished project that has been in my box the longest: it is about the embroideries I did when I was hospitalized in January of last year. I spent more than 40 days hospitalized after my lung operation, in which my hobby was embroidery. I embroidered around 7 patches like these: two I gave to the nurses who took care of me, another two I transformed them into cushions, another two are these and I still have one left with my name that I decided keep it a little longer because I can't think of what to do with it 😅.
Este quizás es el proyecto inconcluso que más tiempo tiene dentro de mi caja: se trata de los bordados que hice cuando estaba internada en enero del año pasado. Pasé más de 40 días internada luego de mi operación de pulmón, en los que mi pasatiempo era bordar. Bordé alrededor de 7 parches como estos: dos los regalé a los enfermeros que me cuidaban, otros dos los transformé en almohadones, otros dos son estos y aún me queda uno con mi nombre que decidí guardarlo un poco más porque no se me ocurre que hacer con él 😅.
I also want to turn these two into cushion covers, one to give to my sister who recently moved out of the apartment and another to one of my friends. I found some fabrics that can be used well for this and that for now I think they can combine well. For this project I have to make the inner cushion and that will be filled with some scraps, so I hope it will help the fabric box to shrink a bit.
Estos dos también quiero transformarlos en fundas para almohadones, uno para regalarle a mi hermana que recientemente se mudó de departamento y otro para una de mis amigas. Encontré unas telas que pueden servir bien para esto y que por ahora creo que pueden combinar bien. Para este proyecto tengo que hacer el almohadón interno y eso irá relleno con algunos retazos, así que espero que sirva para que la caja de telas se achique un poco.
Project #2 / Projecto #2
As project #2 I chose to give these scraps of flat fabrics the opportunity I had promised by turning them into small doll outfits. Many of these fabrics I have already used in outfits that I shared here, and the leftover pieces were saved "to make more in the future". Well, after a year the future is yet to come now ❣️.
Como proyecto #2 elegí darle la oportunidad que le había prometido a estos retazos de telas planas convirtiendolos en pequeños outifts de muñecas. Muchas de estas telas ya las he usado en trajes que compartí aquí, y los pedazos sobrantes fueron guardados "para hacer más en el futuro". Bueno, después de un año el futuro está por llegar ahora ❣️.
I have in mind to make a series of dresses, skirts, t-shirts and simple pants to give to my niece who comes to visit regularly. All the outfits I've made so far I've already given to her, but now I'm out of stock and it's time to renew. To do this I will have to buy more velcro since the little I had I used it all and draw some new patterns so that the garments are not all the same.
Tengo en mente realizar una serie de vestidos, faldas, remeras y pantalones sencillos para regalarle a mi sobrina que viene de visita regularmente. Todos los trajes que hice hasta ahora ya se los regalé, pero ahora me quedé sin stock y es hora de renovar. Para hacer esto tendré que comprar más velcro ya que el poquito que tenía lo usé todo y dibujar algunos moldes nuevos para que las prendas no queden todas iguales.
Project #3 / Projecto #3
And finally, I added a relatively recent project to my list. A few days ago I was cleaning and discarding old clothes until I came across these gabardine pants. It's too big in the waist and it's short on my legs, so downsizing is not an option. I love gabardine fabric and it occurred to me that it would look good on a skirt. Yes, another skirt.
Y por último, agregué en mi lista un proyecto relativamente reciente. Hace unos días estaba limpiando y descartando ropa vieja hasta que me crucé con este pantalón de gabardina. Es demasiado grande en la cintura y me queda corto de piernas, así que achicarlo no es una opción. La tela de gabardina me encanta y se me ocurrió que quedaría bien en una pollera. Sí, otra pollera.
I like the skirts, but now we are going through a very cold winter so they are all left for spring. I like the skirt outfit, thin stockings and boots, but you have to be very brave to go out like that with the low temperature. Maybe I'm exaggerating a bit, but I would still like to have this button skirt in my closet.
Me gustan las polleras, pero ahora estamos pasando un invierno bastante frío así que todas estan quedando para la primavera. Me gusta el outfit de pollera, medias finas y botas, pero hay que ser muy valiente para salir así a la calle con la baja temperatura que hay. Quizás estoy exagerando un poco, pero de cualquier forma me gustaría tener esta falda de botones en mi armario.
I plan to do these three projects simultaneously to be able to show you a bit of progress on each one, although I know myself and I think I'll finish the skirt in a single day because there isn't that much to do. In case I have too much time (oh Laura you are being very optimistic) I will add other projects that arise, everything is to empty that box a little. I always say that the old does not leave room for the new, and this is what happens to me with these fabrics. So now my machine has enough work to do 😅.
Tengo planeado hacer estos tres proyectos en simultáneo para poder ir mostrándoles un poco de avance de cada uno, aunque me conozco y creo que la pollera la terminaré en un solo día porque no hay tanto para hacerle. En caso de que me sobre tiempo (oh Laura estás siendo muy optimista) añadiré otros proyectos que surjan, todo sea por vaciar un poco esa caja. Siempre digo que lo viejo no le deja lugar a lo nuevo, y esto es lo que me pasa con estas telas. Así que ahora mi máquina ya tiene bastante trabajo para hacer 😅.
This challenge is great for me to be able to get hands on with this and have a concrete goal to move forward with these projects that hadn't gotten out of the "maybe someday" stage yet. Now it will be great that together we can push and support each other to resume our pending work. I can't wait to see what they have to show: I know that this community doesn't disappoint because of how talented everyone is and I'm sure there will be beautiful projects ❤️.
Este desafío me vino bien para poder poner manos a la obra con esto y tener una meta concreta para avanzar con estos proyectos que todavía no habían salido de la etapa de la idea de "tal vez algún día". Ahora será genial que entre todos podamos impulsarnos y apoyarnos a retomar nuestros trabajos pendientes. Estoy ansiosa por ver qué tienen para mostrar: sé que esta comunidad no defrauda por lo talentosos que son todos y seguro saldrán hermosos proyectos ❤️.
