In Buenos Aires the summer weather is back, the murga is not saying goodbye yet although we are not presenting the show, and with the same reason (or excuse) I keep embroidering, either to fill a new costume or to sell, or to give as a gift, I chose to make this applique of this emoji 🤏🏼

Buen día lunes, amigas de las agujas. Espero que todas se encuentren genial hoy. En Buenos Aires vuelve el clima veraniego, la murga aún no se despide aunque no estemos presentando el espectáculo, y con el mismo motivo (o excusa) sigo bordando, ya sea para llenar un nuevo traje o para vender, o para regalar, elegí hacer este aplique de este emoji 🤏🏼
These things come out of nowhere, or out of repetition, or out of laughter, they just come out. With the group of bombers there were countless rehearsals, outside of the Saturdays we had. Estas cosas surgen de la nada, o de la repetición, o de la risa, solo surgen. Con el grupo de bombistas fueron incontables los ensayos, por fuera de los días sábados que tuvimos. Muchas reuniones y tiempo de distendernos, es por eso que entre tanto tiempo compartido empezaron a existir momentos de chistes e historias, empezamos a repetir uno de un señor en video que nos daba mucha gracia.

I found it very nice to be able to keep it in an applique as a souvenir of 2025. Esto fue tan bien recibido, que repetimos bastante en complicidad algo que el hombre insiste en querer hacer, quiere contar un chiste “cortito”. Por eso el emoji empezó a formar parte de las charlas por whatsapp y hasta usamos su frase en medio de la presentación. Me pareció por demás agradable poder conservarlo en un aplique como recuerdo del 2025. Pero además, anoche mostré en mi instagram personal como estaba la mesa al terminarlo y el grupo de la percu no dudó en solicitar 15 más, jaja.
This idea pleases me, as it doesn't take long to make and I think it could almost look like a souvenir. Although there are several things that distinguish the percussion from the rest of the murga, we have had the pleasure of receiving it in the form of a souvenir from one of the members who makes 3D prints. That is why I like this detail to be repeated in the costumes.

Esta idea me agrada, ya que no tardo mucho en hacerlo y creo que casi podría parecer un souvenir. Aunque hay varias cosas que distinguen a la percusión del resto de la murga, hemos tenido el agrado de recibirla en forma de souvenir por parte de uno de los integrantes que realiza impresiones 3D. Es por eso que este detalle me gusta para que se repita en los trajes.
I want to tell you that, apart from the borders that I always make in black beads, I didn't know what color to make the stuffing and at the same time, I wanted it to shine. I have many (but many!) beads and sequins, yet none of them simulate the skin color. That's when I remembered that I had bought several shades of gold, and one that is a bit muted in hue, not quite as shiny, but at the same time, it does shine, would work for me. On this color I used pink beads, and a pink thread as well.

Si quiero contarles que, más allá de los bordes que siempre hago en mostacillas negras, el relleno no sabía de qué color hacerlo y a la vez, quería que brille. Tengo muchas (pero muchas!) mostacillas y lentejuelas, aun así, ninguna simula el color piel. Fue entonces cuando recordé que había comprado varios tonos de dorado, y uno que es algo apagado en la tonalidad, no tiene un tono tan brillante, pero al mismo tiempo, sí brilla, me iba a servir. Sobre este color utilicé mostacillas rosaditas, y un hilo rosado también.
Sometimes I am not polite with the color of the thread, and it is also a special touch, different, it is not really noticeable from far away, nor is it a huge detail that it does not look good, but starting to do everything in order, and even thinking about acquiring threads of other colors seems to me to give an upgrade to my embroidery work.
Although when the cold weather arrives I will return to crochet (now it is too hot to sit down and have wool on me) I do not want to forget the goal of moving forward with appliqués to improve, to show them and to decorate my year of carnival.

A veces no soy educada con el color del hilo, y también es un toque especial, distinto, verdaderamente no se nota desde lejos, ni es enorme el detalle de que no quede bien, pero empezar a hacer todo ordenado, e incluso pensar en adquirir hilos de otros colores me parece darle un upgrade a mi labor de bordado. Si bien cuando llegue el frío volveré a tejer crochet (ahora hace demasiado calor para sentarme a tener lanas encima) No quiero olvidarme de la meta de avanzar con apliques para mejorar, para mostrarles y para ir decorando mi año de carnaval.

Creo que tengo finalmente decidido el aplique grande que haré, y esto será de mucho trabajo, por lo que siempre elijo tener algo pequeño que ir haciendo, además he regalado algunos de mis viejos trajes, que tenían más de 10 años, y que quiero replicar, o por ejemplo, el logo de Hive quiero volver a hacerlo ya que fue anudandose y no aguantó tantos tirones, por explicar lo ocurrido, seguramente eso se los muestre en el futuro, pero ahora, lo importante.

A mi me encantó, ya quiero ponerlo en el traje, pero que el grupo le haya dado un gran recibimiento a la idea es algo que me encanta, si bien no sé si podré preparar sola 15 iguales, quizás puedo hacer el armado y en alguna reunión, que todos comencemos a bordar, como si fuese un curso o taller, llevar los materiales y enseñarles mi técnica. Dicho esto, les agradezco el tiempo y el espacio de siempre, encantada con la comunidad creativa que me cobija en mis más atrevidas creaciones, y aunque el chiste no es de público conocimiento “uno cortito” se volvió casi cábala en la percusión, por eso coloco la cuenta de la murga Zarabanda Arrabalera como beneficiaria de una parte de las recompensas obtenidas, y también seguiré trabajando en ello con el conjunto para poder crecer.
