Good morning friends of the needles, I hope this Monday finds you all very well, I for my part, as I promised, I started my sewing projects, and although I'm just learning (and I will take my time to consider myself new and not demand me) I'm managing to take small steps and learn to be satisfied with the seams made, and even understand where I need to improve.

Buen día amigas de las agujas, espero que este lunes las encuentre a todas muy bien, yo por mi parte, como prometí, comencé mis proyectos de costura, y aunque recien voy aprendiendo (y me tomaré mi tiempo para considerarme nueva y no exigirme) voy logrando dar pequeños pasos y aprender a estar conforme con las costuras realizadas, e incluso entender dónde debo mejorar.

The self-taught path is quite like that, learning while surfing frustrations, facing the “this did not come out as I wanted, how to improve it?”, understanding how much a fabric should measure, how much to cut too much, too little, and many other details, while learning how to operate a machine. It is a whirlwind path, fun, varied, exploring different emotions.

El camino autodidacta es bastante así, aprender mientras se surfean las frustraciones, enfrentar el “esto no salió como quería, cómo mejorarlo?”, entender cuánto debe medir una tela, cuánto cortar de más, de menos, y muchos otros detalles, mientras se aprende a manejar una máquina. Es un camino torbellinesco, divertido, variado, que explora distintas emociones.
I can't help but feel satisfied, and eager to improve, so considering this, I will show you four projects I made this week, with the fabric I have available and with what I am learning and wanting to learn as well. But you don't learn to sail on calm seas, so the challenges were not lacking. I sewed a zipper, made double fabric, made borders, marked angles, braked the machine as many times as it took to be satisfied, and other times I just didn't make it, haha.

No puedo evitar sentirme conforme, y con ansias por mejorar, asique considerando esto, les mostraré cuatro proyectos que realicé esta semana, con la tela que tengo disponible y con lo que voy aprendiendo y queriendo aprender también. Pero no se aprende a navegar en mar en calma, así que los desafíos no faltaron. Cosí un cierre, hice doble tela, hice bordes, marqué ángulos, frené la máquina tantas veces como fue necesario para estar conforme, y otras veces simplemente no lo logré, jaja
First steps, I just started. I cut a fabric, and started folding it, figuring out where to sew to achieve different things. So it was that from the first rectangular fabric, with edges sewn as if it were a tablecloth, I made folds, I managed to place a long strip (which I also learned to sew in a straight way) and is used to keep the fabric scissors.

Primeros pasos, solo comencé. Corté una tela, y empecé a doblarla, descifrando donde coser para lograr distintas cosas. Así fue que de la primera tela rectangular, con bordes cosidos como si fuese un mantelito, hice dobleces, conseguí colocar una tira larga (que también aprendí a coser de manera recta) y es utilizado para guardar la tijera de tela.
Then, I explored seams that also act as a union, in this opportunity I took full advantage of being able to explore and play to create something in the meantime. That is to say that I didn't plan the final result, it just came out. I learned about interior seams in this case, and since it turned out wider but the fabric is not very firm, I will use it as a book cover, or something like that. To preserve some, transport it maybe, I don't know yet.

Luego, exploré costuras que hacen también de unión, en esta oportunidad aproveché al máximo poder explorar y jugar a crear algo mientras tanto. Es decir que no planifiqué el resultado final, solo surgió. Aprendí sobre costuras interiores en este caso, y como resultó más ancho pero la tela no es muy firme, lo utilizaré como funda de libro, o algo así. Para preservar alguno, transportarlo quizás, no sé aún.
Seeing these small achievements, I wanted to try something with separations, which clearly were not perfect, but the idea was to have a special place for some threads. I know it's not important either, now I only have a few, but someday I will have many and they will surely go to a tin, a box, or something even more special. But today for today, I liked this idea, plus I started to see the order of the stitching, which one would go first, which one after.

Viendo estos pequeños logros, quise probar algo con separaciones, que claramente no quedaron perfectas, pero la idea era tener un sitio especial para algunos hilos. Ya sé que tampoco es importante, ahora solo tengo unos pocos, pero algún día tendré muchos y seguramente irán a una lata, una cajita, o algo aún más especial. Pero hoy por hoy, me gustó esta idea, además empecé a ver el orden de las costuras, cuál iría primero, cuál después.

And how I faced that project without knowledge, I tried to follow some simple steps to make it even more complicated, and sewed my first “toiletry bag” with zipper. Maybe it applies as a pencil case, I don't know. Here I put my small scissors, one centimeter, and I will change ideas as time goes by. While I plan to paint or do something on this fabric, for now the achievement is being brutal. I am very happy and content, while knowing that I have an infinite way to go.

Y cómo enfrenté ese proyecto sin conocimiento, traté de seguir unos simples pasos para complicarme aún más, y cosí mi primer “neceser” con cierre. Quizás aplica como cartuchera, no lo sé. Aquí puse mi tijera pequeña, un centímetro, e iré cambiando de ideas mientras pase el tiempo. Si bien planeo pintar o hacer algo sobre esta tela, por ahora el logro está siendo brutal. Estoy muy contenta y conforme, a la vez que sé que tengo un camino infinito por recorrer.
I loved getting advice on this, and I still ask for it and listen to what people with experience have to say. Not to mention learning also when it is best to take the photos to show them here, you will see some unintelligible or perhaps unclear ones. My surprise is that I want to show you everything, but at the same time, I understand that what for me is a genius nowadays, is the most normal thing to do when sewing. Achieving even stitches should be something constant and for me it is an achievement as if no one had ever done something like this haha.

Me encantó recibir consejos al respecto, y aún los pido y escucho todo lo que la gente con experiencia tiene para decir. Sin hablar de aprender también cuándo es mejor tomar las fotos para mostrarlas aquí, verán algunas inentendibles o quizás poco claras. Mi sorpresa es querer mostrarles todo, pero a su vez, entiendo que lo que para mi es una genialidad hoy en día, es lo más normal cuando una cose. Lograr puntadas parejas debería ser algo constante y para mi es un logro como si nadie nunca hubiese realizado algo así jaja
