Volviendo a esta comunidad en un Lunes de NeedleWork les quiero contar una historia con un pequeñísimo tutorial. Me había perdido un poco de las tareas de costura, no me sentía muy inspirada y quería esperar el momento indicado para volver. Últimamente he estado tratando de encontrarle un nuevo rumbo a las cosas que hacía, es por ello que quise volver a aprender cosas nuevas, he estado haciendo algunos cursos también y recordé que algo que me mantenía muy entretenida era hacer cosas muy útiles con respecto a la costura. Así que me quise ir una tarde al Castillo de las Telas, la tienda más grande de todas, para ver que podía inspirarme a crear algo.
Returning to this community on a NeedleWork Monday I want to tell you a story with a very small tutorial. I had missed a bit of sewing work, wasn't feeling very inspired and wanted to wait for the right time to get back to it. Lately I've been trying to find a new direction to the things I was doing, that's why I wanted to learn new things again, I've been doing some courses too and I remembered that something that kept me very entertained was to make very useful things regarding sewing. So I wanted to go one afternoon to the Castillo de las Telas, the biggest store of them all, to see what could inspire me to create something.
Siempre que voy al castillo tardo mucho tiempo, porque hay telas muy bonitas, quisiera llevarme tantas para hacer muchas cosas, pero realmente no puedo hacerlo por falta de presupuesto jaja. Me encanta ir con mi mamá, porque ella sabe más sobre telas que yo y nos distraemos mucho. Esta salida al castillo ocurrió hace unos pocos días, solo fuimos buscando unas telas de Hello Kitty para hacerme una pijama pero no la encontramos, pero no nos quisimos ir con las manos vacías. Así que recordé algo que tenia pendiente... mi toalla de siempre, una fucsia que tengo, me estaba quedando pequeña, porque estoy un poquito gordita, así que no me tapaba por completo. Tenia un tiempo queriendo comprarme una toalla pero no había ido al lugar, así que fuimos a ver si había una tela para ello, ya que me gustan más las cosas hechas a mano y con amor.
Whenever I go to the castle I take a long time, because there are so many beautiful fabrics, I would like to take so many to make many things, but I can't really do it because of lack of budget haha. I love going with my mom, because she knows more about fabrics than me and we get a lot of distraction. This castle outing happened a few days ago, we just went looking for some Hello Kitty fabrics to make me some pajamas but we couldn't find them, but we didn't want to leave empty handed. So I remembered something I had pending... my usual towel, a fuchsia one I have, was getting too small, because I'm a little bit chubby, so it didn't cover me completely. I had been wanting to buy a towel for a while but I hadn't been to the place, so we went to see if there was a fabric for it, since I like things made by hand and with love.
Me enamoré de esta tela, porque parece una vaquita, así que la compre, estuve pidiendo unos 0.85m, porque quería utilizar 10cm para hacer algo lindo y presentárselos luego. Después mi mamá me dijo que sería una gran idea decorar la toalla, así que propuso comprar 5 metros de vivo, en una tonalidad roja, yo estuve encantada de la idea, en el momento no pudimos comprarlo pero ella fue por mi al otro día a una tienda y me lo trajo.
I fell in love with this fabric, because it looks like a little cow, so I bought it, I was asking for about 0.85m, because I wanted to use 10cm to make something nice and present it to them later. Then my mom told me that it would be a great idea to decorate the towel, so she proposed to buy 5 meters of piping, in a red shade, I was delighted with the idea, at the moment we couldn't buy it but she went for me the next day to a store and brought it to me.
Realmente coser el vivo a la tela no tiene nada de ciencia, simplemente colocas la tela en el medio del vivo, te ayudas con unos alfileres para posicionar si es necesario y pasas una costura recta por todo el medio para unir. En esta oportunidad estuve utilizando la maquina de coser de mi mamá, poco a poco, ya que sigo teniéndole miedo, quiero seguir intentándolo para poder hacer más cosas y no tener que pedirle tanta ayuda, pero honestamente me gusta hacer más cosas a mano porque siento que tengo más control. El vivo rojo lo estuve colocando por todo el borde de mi toalla, esto también ayuda a que la tela no pierda los hilos y se ponga fea, ya que cierra todos los bordes.
Actually sewing the piping to the fabric has nothing to do with science, you simply place the fabric in the middle of the piping, help yourself with some pins to position it if necessary and sew a straight seam all along the middle to join it. This time I was using my mom's sewing machine, little by little, since I'm still afraid of it, I want to keep trying so I can do more things and not have to ask her for so much help, but honestly I like to do more things by hand because I feel I have more control. The red piping I've been placing all around the edge of my towel, this also helps keep the fabric from losing threads and getting ugly because it closes all the edges.
Este realmente no es un gran tutorial, pero después de tanto tiempo alejada de la costura quise regresar con algo sencillo para decirles nuevamente Hola a todos en esta linda comunidad, les cuento que estoy preparándome para cosas más increíbles y bonitas, tengo varias telas en espera, entre ellas quiero hacer una cortina para mi cuarto, una alfombra, algunas camisas que están en tendencia y especialmente algunas herramientas para el cuidado facial que fácilmente podemos realizar con telas para toallas suavecitas. This is not really a great tutorial, but after so much time away from sewing I wanted to come back with something simple to say Hello again to everyone in this nice community, I tell you that I am preparing for more amazing and beautiful things, I have several fabrics on hold, among them I want to make a curtain for my room, a rug, some shirts that are in trend and especially some tools for facial care that we can easily make with soft towel fabrics.
