Sewing for someone you care about, for friends or for family hits way differently.
I decided to make a beautiful dress for my little sibling and it turned out really nice.
The style was simple, feminine and good for casual outings and events. She loved the gown and I had satisfaction in making it.
The fabric I used is what we call Vintage here, it is soft and breathable with the beautiful patterns that gives the dress an elegant look.
One thing that will make a dress stand out is the choice of fabric that you make, and this one was perfect. I didn't want anything too dramatic for her, and I know what she loves too so I chose the simple gown with a little flare down. Also I added a unique touch to the front, I created a drawstring riches detail in front of it.
So I laid out the fabric, marked out her measurement, cut the dress and moved straight to the machine to start sewing
Below is a little process on how I made the gown..
I cut the fabric based on her size
Sewed the drawstring casing down from the waist of the gown
I Inserted the rope and tested the gathering effect it gives to the gowm
For the back I decided to do an eyelet for it so it can be tied instead of the traditional zipping
.
Below is how the back turned out to be
And this is how the front turned out and I loved it
It was fun working on this project and I paid good attention to the details and the finishing so that it would be clean inside out.
