Hello Hive
Happy new Monday to my friends in the community. Its needlework o'clock and I hope that my community friends are as happy as I am. Monday is the day to relax with either some yarn and hook or with some 🧶 🧶 🧶 with our needles and thread. The beautiful and creative projects that often floods the community on this day is one that I dearly appreciate.
Everyone collective contribution makes the community active and colorful.
Today I decided to try out a little bias magic on a plain black dress. This makes it the 2nd dress of this fabric I will be seeing for myself.
Been a seamstress it's very easy for friends to come around and pick whatever they want from my wardrobe.
Before you know it some of my outfits will go missing when I need them. The first one of this dress I made has been carted away already and you know just how useful a simple black dress can be.
Outfits of this kind are often simple and handy for any outing. I decided to try out a new design of black dress using the remaining piece of the fabrics and I hope that this one won't be carted away as well.
I folded the fabric and chalked out my body measurements here
Cutting the front bodice with a 4" by 3.5" depth measurement
Adding Zipper allowance to the back bodice I had cut it out with a higher neckline
Next was the sleeve. Since the remaining fabrics wasn't much I couldn't make an elegant sleeve but decided to try my hands on something simple and yet creative.
Having cut out the straight sleeves here
I realized that I still had some fabrics left that can cut a flair which I did manage for both sleeves here.
Stitching
Next I started with the stitching of the necklines which is often the first part we turn inwards.
With a heming gum here I ironed down the facing to give a clean neckline.
Next I got some white bias strip and decided to use it as a contrasting color to turn my sleeve line
These became decorative on the dress
With that I was able to stitch up the dress, close the seamlines and beaming and then got a zipper fixed around the armhole and side seams of my dress. Everything is ready and I love the simplicity of the dress.
Even though I am still having some creative idea rush to have the dress beaded I might just go ahead to work out some more thing on it.
