Hello Hive friends, Good day to all of you. How have you been?
I'm an essential worker and wearing a facemask is mandatory for Me to me to protect my family from the pandemic. And wearing face mask is a hassle especially when your ears are feeling sore because of the long periods of wearing it.
I used to crochet ears savers with two buttons on both end but it still make me hurt. The ear saver is sliding down my hair and pulling down my ponytail which makes my scalp ache, then later my head. ( it's funny how my hair turned brown in this photo. I'm sorry, the photos were not so good because I did its fast yesterday because I could not bear the pain anymore).
One more thing is that when I wear the facemask with my ears, it's too loose to fit my face giving a space for the air to come in unfiltered. Tying a knot in the garter won't work perfectly for sometimes, it could be a little too tight.
See that AC over there? its the reason why I always wear thick jackets and hat because it makes me sick. When I don't wear a jacket, I would feel sore all over my body and if not cure with a liniment, it would turn into cough.(some medical personnel does not believe in "panuhot" which has been described above, but I feel it and I believe it. The best way to get rid of it is by massage. But no one can do it for me.
Since I crochet, I had lots of materials in stock inside my drawer where the files in the office should be. Ssssh. don't tell my boss or I would be kicked out (hehe). Then an idea came to me in an instant.
Voila! my facemask is now perfectly fit and finally, I would not hurt anywhere in wearing face masks. What a relief. Here's how it happened:
With my yarn scraps, buttons, and extra-large needles, I sewed buttons in my baseball cap so I could put the face mask's earloops there.
I measured with my hands the distance where I would possibly put the buttons, then I marked it with a ballpen. But since it is not aligned correctly, I decided to put the button on the same opposite side.
I just estimated that the buttons will be at the same distance then sewed it until I thought it would be secure enough. sewing it one after another.
I tried three knots at the back of my work then cutting it down. It will be covered with the hat's seam so it will be neat when looked at.
Im so glad the idea had been so helpful to me in my daily living. Wearing face masks without sore feelings is the best thing that I could have.
Thank you for stopping by.
I am hoping to make headbands and put some buttons in then too , but I'm still so busy right now. Maybe someday especially when the mood is good.
keep safe you all,
