Hello to all the Hive-Con community, I know I've been inactive for quite some time but it's been due to university and work issues and I haven't had much free time to post (I know it sounds like a typical excuse haha) but the good guy @kuronokenshi told me a few days ago about a very interesting initiative in this great community and I said that this was the perfect time to dedicate some time to talk about an anime that was, I think, the trigger for my love for this world and I was lucky enough to see it when it was broadcasted in Cartoon Network. time to talk about an anime that was I think the trigger of my love for this world and I was lucky enough to see it when it was broadcasted on Cartoon Network a long time ago and this was not the only anime I saw on this channel and Fox Kids (what good memories I have of that channel) because these channels not only broadcast the best known anime like Dragon Ball, Pokemon or Saint Seiya but also some anime that went more unnoticed like Zoids, Trigun, Monster Rangers or Yu Yu Hakusho. For this reason of being anime that passed a little under the radar I wanted to dedicate this post to Zoids: Chaotic Century.

Zoids I remember watching it when I was coming home from school in Cartoon Network and something that I love was its animation style, because for that time to see 2D animation combined with a 3D style in gci was very unusual, but that was something that I particularly loved, and the design of the Zoids for me was something epic, to such a level that I tried to recreate them with the Legos that I had at home (since I never got here the buildable figures of these anime) and is that the style of mechas that seemed to be made by Legos or that could be assembled for me as a child and until my adulthood is something that I think is great (if I could get them in my city believe me I would have more than one haha).

I will speak a little of the history of Zoids since I know that not many knew it but the story presents us to a dystopian world at war (something very common really in the animes of that time) which was at war between two empires, the Guylos empire and the Helic republic, in this chaotic world in which wars are fought in robberies with forms of animals (ranging from mammals, reptiles, insects and some extinct animals), the protagonist of this story is called Van, which when being chased by bandits ends up entering some ancient ruins, in these he finds a Zoid Organoid, which after establishing a friendship called Zeke, this helps him escape from the bandits and thanks to the skills of Zeke manage to reactivate an abandoned Zoid called Shield Liger as it merges with this, Due to this fusion they are able to defeat the bandits and return to the ruins and Zeke shows Van that there is still another Organoid to wake up, but when they get to the capsule it turns out to be a girl named Fine. With these three will begin the adventure known as Zoids Chaotic Century.

Despite being an anime that premiered in 1999 in my country it began to be broadcast much later and this was great because I was old enough to understand it, I remember that despite being a child it seemed to me that his story was very different from other anime I saw at that time and watching it as an adult you realize that his story was much more mature and touched on issues such as dictatorships, The ravages that war leaves in the world (like orphans or refugees), and it also presented us with a protagonist that with the passing of bad experiences was maturing and always looking for the benefit for his friends.

Something that was complicated due to the fact that it was shown on a TV channel is that there were times that if they reached a certain chapter they would restart it from scratch since they did not have the chapters dubbed in their entirety and this for a child became a little frustrating but I still watched all the chapters no matter how many times I had already seen it and as I said before I found the design of the Zoids and their resemblance to Lego toys incredible.

A point against this anime was the continuation of Zoids Chaotic Century, and that after two years have passed in the story we are presented Zoids Guardian Force, which at the beginning introduced us to two very interesting new antagonists which also had Organoids, plus we would see again Raven (villain with a black Organoid called Shadow that appears in the first part), the negative point of this sequel is that its story is too similar to the first part and despite showing two very interesting antagonists then we fall into the typical trick that the final villain had not been defeated but was always from the shadows, this took away all the weight that these new villains had managed to bring to the series and although its animation was still great and the design of the Zoids had improved a lot, it became too repetitive and ended up turning off a little the magic of the first part, although it was not all bad because it allowed us to have a fairly complete closure for this anime, without leaving too many loose ends.

Zoids was undoubtedly an anime that marked my childhood and undoubtedly also the taste that I developed for mecha and even for Legos, but something I must also emphasize is that its Opening is a work of art, also it was announced that thanks to its 24th anniversary Zoids will be re-broadcast in Japan and most likely I can see it again with an increase in the quality of its animation (since it will be a re-release and a remake I hope to have the original story). It was really great to remember the good memories I had linked to this anime and I hope to see much more content of anime that marked the other members of the community.
Hola a toda la comunidad de Hive-Con, se que llevo bastante tiempo inactivo pero se ha debido a temas de la universidad y el trabajo y no he tenido demasiado tiempo libre para publicar (si yo sé que suena a excusa típica jaja) pero el bueno de @kuronokenshi me avisó hace algunos días de una iniciativa muy interesante en esta genial comunidad y dije que este era el momento perfecto para dedicarle un poco de tiempo a hablar de un anime que fue creo que el detonante de mi amor por este mundo y es que tuve la suerte de verlo cuando lo emitían en Cartoon Network hace mucho tiempo y es que este no fue el único anime que ví en este canal y en Fox Kids (que buenos recuerdos tengo de ese canal) ya que estos canales no solo emitían los animes más conocidos como Dragon Ball, Pokemon o Saint Seiya sino también algunos que pasaban más desapercibidos cómo el mismo Zoids, Trigun, Monster Rangers o Yu Yu Hakusho. Por esta razón de ser animes que pasaban un poco bajo del radar quise dedicarle este post a Zoids: Chaotic Century.

Zoids recuerdo verlo cuando llegaba de clases en Cartoon Network y algo que me encanta era su estilo de animación, ya que para esa época ver animación en 2D combinada con un estilo parecido al 3D en gci era muy inusual, pero eso era algo que particularmente a mí me encantaba, y es que el diseño de los Zoids para mí era algo epico, a tal nivel que trataba de recrearlos con los Legos que tenía en mi casa (ya que nunca conseguí aquí las figuras armables de estos animes) y es que el estilo de mechas que parecían hechos por Legos o que se podían ensamblar para mí desde niño y hasta mi adultez es algo que me parece genial (si lograra conseguirlos en mi ciudad créanme que tendría más de uno jaja).

Hablare un poco de la historia de Zoids ya que se que no muchos lo conocieron pero la historia nos presenta a un mundo distopico en guerra (algo muy común realmente en los animes de esa época) el cual se encontraba en guerra entre dos imperios, el imperio Guylos y la república de Helic, en este caotico mundo en el que las guerras se pelean en robos con formas de animales (pasando desde mamíferos, reptiles, insectos y algunos animales extintos), el protagonista de esta historia se llama Van, el cual al ser perseguido por bandidos termina entrando en unas antiguas ruinas, en estás encuentra a un Zoid Organoid, al cual luego de entablar una amistad llama Zeke, este lo ayuda a escapar de los bandidos y gracias a las habilidades de Zeke logran reactivar un Zoid abandonado llamado Shield Liger ya que se fusiona con este, debido a esta fusión son capaces de vencer a los bandidos y regresar a las ruinas ya Zeke le muestra a Van que aún falta otro Organoid por despertar, pero al llegar a la cápsula resulta ser una niña llamada Fine. Con estos tres empezará la aventura conocida como Zoids Chaotic Century.

A pesar de ser un anime que estreno en 1999 en mi país se empezó a transmitir mucho después y esto fue genial ya que ya tenía edad para entenderlo, recuerdo que a pesar de ser un niño me parecía que su historia era muy diferente a otros animes que veía en ese entonces y que viendolo de adulto te das cuenta que su historia era mucho más madura y tocaba temas como las dictaduras, los estragos que deja en el mundo la guerra (cómo huérfanos o refugiados), además de que nos presentaba a un protagonista que con el pasar de las malas experiencias iba madurando y buscando siempre le beneficio para sus amigos.

Algo que si era complicado debido a que lo pasaban por un canal de televisión es que había veces en las que si llegaban a cierto capitulo lo reiniciaban desde cero ya que no tenían doblados en su totalidad los capítulos y esto para un niño llegaba a ser un poco frustrante pero igual veía todos los capítulos sin importar cuántas veces lo hubiese visto ya y es que como dije anteriormente me parecía increíble el diseño de los Zoids y su parecido a juguetes de Lego.

Un punto en contra para este anime fue la continuación de Zoids Chaotic Century, y que luego que en la historia han pasado dos años se nos presenta Zoids Guardian Force, el cual al inicio nos presento a dos antagonistas nuevos muy interesantes los cuales también tenían Organoids, además de que volveríamos a ver Raven (villano con un Organoid negro llamado Shadow que aparece en la primera parte), el punto negativo de esta continuación es que su historia se parece demasiado a la de la primera parte y a pesar de mostrar dos antagonistas bastante interesantes luego caemos en la típica artimaña de que el villano final no había sido vencido sino que estaba siempre desde las sombras, esto le quitó todo el peso que estos nuevos villanos habían logrado traer a la serie y a pesar de que su animación siguió siendo genial y el diseño de los Zoids había mejorado mucho, se volvió demasiado repetitiva y termino apagando un poco la magia de la primera parte, aunque no todo fue malo ya que nos permitió tener un cierre bastante completo para este anime, sin dejar demasiados cabos sueltos.

Zoids sin dudarlo fue un anime que marco mi infancia y sin duda también el gusto que desarrolle por los mecha e inclusive por los Legos, pero algo que también debo recalcar es que su Opening es una obra de arte, ademas se anuncio que gracias a su 24th aniversario Zoids sera re-emitido en Japón y muy seguramente pueda volverlo a ver con un aumento de la calidad de su animación (ya que sera un re-lanzamiento y un remake espero contar con la historia original). Fue realmente genial recordar las buenas memorias que tenia enlazadas a este anime y espero ver mucho mas contenido de animes que marcaron a los demás miembros de la comunidad.
