I use this sauce in my baking as a replacement to butter or as a warm sauce over my puddings….
Ingredients
8 Apple/Pears ( a fruit that is a cross between an apple or pear, if you cant find these you can use 4 apples and 4 pears) – peeled and cut into pieces
2 Pears – peeled and cut into pieces
2 Apples – peeled and cut into pieces
1 Tbs Agave Nectar or Maple syrup or Yacon syrup
1/2 Cup fresh Orange juice
1/2 tsp powedered Stevia
Juice of half a Lemon
1 tsp Vanilla extract
1 tsp Pumpkin pie spice (see below)
1 large Cinnamon bark/stick
1/2 Cup filtered Water
PUMPKIN PIE SPICE MIX (combine all & keep any left over in a small glass jar)
1 Tbs ground Cinnamon
1 tsp ground Nutmeg
1 tsp ground Ginger
1 tsp Vanilla powder
3/4 tsp Allspice
Instructions
Place all ingredients in a large saucepan. Bring to boil, reduce heat to the lowest setting.
Cover and simmer for approx 1.5 hours, until it thickens. Stirring every now and again. Strain thru a very fine sieve at least twice to remove any debris left behind from the cinnamon bark/stick.
I bottled this sauce in a few small glass jars, closed them tight straight away, allowed them to cool, then froze the ones I didn’t want to use straight away.
A lovely cinnamon, apple aroma will fill your house with this lovely healthy sauce. Enjoy on breakfast cereal, or in homemade granola, or use in baking dishes to replace butter.
