RESTORING THE DINING TABLES AT THE UNIVERSITY [ENG/ESP]

Hola HIVE 🖖🏼😁 espero que todos se encuentren muy, pero muy bien disfrutando de abundantes buenas vibras 😌.

A week ago I present on my blog an artistic project that I am leading at the university, in this Post is the related information, but with that same team that we have joined committed to the improvement and beautification of the university, we are working simultaneously several artistic projects led by other teammates; There are 4 projects so far and they are all focused on restoring the patio and dining room of the university. Today I am here to present the second project on that list, it is about the restoration of the tables that are in the dining room, they are cement tables that are very deteriorated and scratched with many scribbles.

Hace una semana presente en mi blog un proyecto artístico que estoy liderando en la universidad, en este Post esta la información relacionada, pero con ese mismo equipo que nos hemos unido comprometidos a la mejora y embellecimiento de la universidad, estamos trabajando en simultáneo varios proyectos artísticos liderados por otros compañeros del equipo; son 4 proyectos hasta el momento y todos estan enfocados en restaurar el patio y comedor de la universidad. Hoy les vengo a presentar el segundo proyecto de esa lista, se trata de la restauración de las mesas que estan en el comedor, son unas mesas de cemento que están muy deterioradas y ralladas con muchos garabatos.

A couple of weeks ago we made several revisions to check the state of the tables and see what materials we needed for the restoration, we also carried out tests with acrylic paint to calculate the amount of paint that will be required to make the artistic works on the surface flat. On the flat surface of the table we are going to represent the artistic periods that the memorable Venezuelan plastic artist Armando Reveron investigated in life.

Hace un par de semanas hicimos varias revisiones para comprobar el estado de las mesas y ver que materiales necesitabamos para la restauración, también realizamos pruebas con la pintura acrílica para calcular la cantidad de pintura que se va a requerir para hacer las obras artísticas sobre la superficie plana. En la superficie plana de la mesa vamos a representar los periodos artísticos que investigo en vida el memorable artista plástico venezolano Armando Reveron.

Last Friday a teammate brought a donation of materials to proceed with the restoration of the tables; Among the materials there was a bag of cement and washed sand, just what we needed to start this project and restore the tables.

El pasado viernes una compañera del equipo, trajo una donación de materiales para proceder con la restauración de las mesas; entre los materiales había un saco de cemento y arena lavada, justo lo que nos hacía falta para comenzar este proyecto y restaurar las mesas.

First we began to scrape the flat surface of the tables with a spatula to remove all the dirt that had stuck to it, the surface was also sanded to eliminate all the porosity.

Primero comenzamos a raspar con espátulas la superficie plana de las mesas para quitarle toda la suciedad que tenía pegada, también se lijo la superficie para eliminar toda la porosidad.

Then we dismantled the tables to be able to work on each part separately, we removed the umbrellas (we are going to paint those umbrellas as well) we lowered the flat surface and removed all the slag that had stuck to the bases of the tables, because we noticed that in They had already made an attempt to restore it in the past, but they used the cement very badly and we had to clean everything that had been done before.

Luego fuimos desmantelando las mesas para poder trabajar cada parte por separado, le sacamos las sombrillas (esas sombrillas también las vamos a pintar) bajamos la superficie plana y le quitamos a las bases de las mesas toda la escoria que tenía pegada, porque notamos que en el pasado ya le habían realizado un intento de restauración, pero usaron muy mal el cemento y tuvimos que limpiar todo lo que habían realizado antes.

Finally we took the flat surfaces of the tables to a place where we could work more comfortably, we prepared the cement mix and I began to carry out the restoration filling the gaps with the cement; We left them in that place for the whole weekend so that the cement could dry correctly, this Monday that I go to the university we will check how they turned out and we will assemble the tables again 😁. Then I'll keep posting the progress of this project 💪🏼😉.

Por último llevamos las superficies planas de las mesas para un lugar donde las pudieramos trabajar con mas comodidad, preparamos la mezcla de cemento y comencé a realizar la restauración rellenando los huecos con el cemento; las dejamos en ese lugar por todo el fin de semana para que se secara el cemento de manera correcta, este lunes que vaya a la universidad revisaremos como quedaron y volveremos a ensamblar las mesas nuevamente 😁. Luego seguiré publicando el avance de este proyecto 💪🏼😉.

There are other tables that also need restoration, but for those I require other tools, a welding machine and electrodes; A teammate already made available a welding machine that he has in his house, you just need to buy the electrodes, we will be doing that very soon 😁. Hay otras mesas que también necesitan restauración, pero para esas requiero de otras herramientas, una máquina de soldar y electrodos; ya un compañero del equipo puso a disposición una máquina para soldar que tiene en su casa, solo hace falta comprar los electrodos, eso lo estaremos haciendo muy pronto 😁. Poco a poco ire publicando los demas proyectos que estamos realizando en simultáneo y los avances de estos proyectos que ya he presentado en el blog, para ir dejando un registro de lo que hemos estado logrando con esfuerzo, compromiso y sobretodo union por la recuperación de la universidad 😌; espero que este post sea de su agrado, buenas vibras 🖖🏼.
