Chalcosoma atlas is the scientific name of this insect, a beautiful beetle that comes from Southeast Asia, mostly seen in the country of Indonesia, it belongs to the large family of Scarabaeidae with almost thirty thousand species described worldwide. I really didn't know what its common name was and it turns out that it is "Atlas beetle" in Spanish and in English it is called "Atlas beetle".

Chalcosoma atlas es el nombre científico de este insecto, un hermoso escarabajo que proviene del sureste de Asia, más que todo visto en el país de Indonesia, es de la gran familia de los Scarabaeidae con casi treinta mil especies descritas en todo el mundo. Yo la verdad no sabía cuál era su nombre común y resulta que es “escarabajo Atlas” en español y en inglés se le llama “Atlas beetle”.

The large size of this Atlas beetle makes it stand out from the rest of the beetle species, as the female can reach a size of 2.5 centimeters to 6 centimeters long, and the incredible thing is that even bigger are the males that with a size of 6 centimeters to 13 centimeters long that is why it is one of the largest beetles in Asia. In addition, the males have 3 horns on the head and thorax and use them as a weapon to fight against the other male beetles, the one that leaves the other half dead will have the right to mate with the females.

El gran tamaño de este escarabajo del Atlas hace que se destaque del resto de especies de escarabajos, ya que la hembra puede alcanzar un tamaño de 2,5 centímetros a 6 centímetros de largo, y lo increíble es que aún más grandes son los machos que con un tamaño de 6 centímetros a los 13 centímetros de longitud por eso es uno de los escarabajos más grandes de Asia. Además, los machos tienen 3 cuernos en la cabeza y el tórax y los utilizan como un arma de lucha contra los otros machos escarabajos, el que deje al otro medio muerto tendrá derecho a aparearse con las hembras.
