"Maybe it is time for me to move on. Maybe what's best for 'Spider-Man' is that they do a Miles Morales film. I have to take Peter Parker into account as well, because he is an important part of my life,"
Maybe The Most Radical Thing Marvel Has Ever Done
Tom Holland wants to hang up his web slingers and Spidey suit sooner than later but this writer wants him to hold on because actually allowing Spiderman to age, mentor, a new generation of heroes including Miles Morales, and to a lesser extent Gwen Stacey would be the most radical thing Marvel has ever done and fix one of the few missteps/ greatest successes the Marvel Studios has produced in a decade and a half of building something unprecedented, a functioning, well-received cinematic universe.

The Great Paradox and Beautiful Paradox

Marvel's most popular, and arguably its strongest franchise is also its weakest in someways, after an epic 20-year tug of war that has spanned 20 years Marvel and Sony have finally come to equilibrium and are building properties that have potential earning power for both companies after two reboots(two of which done outside of MCU continuity), three Peter Parkers some great movies and some duds our beloved we crawler has been stuck in a continuous teenage loop with the same trauma's and challenges playing over and over again, it finally time to break the loop and allow Peter Parker to age with his fans.

Don't hang up your web slingers Just yet!
Tom Holland finds himself at the helm of one of the largest movie franchises in Hollywood, which is grueling and often unforgiving work, with a slew of ups and downs in motivation and circumstances (Just ask Daniel Craig who just finished his tenure as Bond). With that being said Holland has the perfect opportunity to age with spiderman and step into more adult nuanced territory with the character assuming a position similar to RDJ's iron man character leading a fresh roster of avengers, the potential for a truly poignant handing off of the torch is there and I feel closing out Phase 5 or 6 with a new Spiderman would be exactly the send-off such a storied character deserves. Into the spider-verse, a sony animated film of all things has pointed to how poignant a superhero movie can be when it spans generations instead of only focusing on a teenaged protagonist. Continuity requires loss, growth, and re-birth, a true life-cycle.

Marvel's Strength is in its Continuity, not its Novelty
Spidey deserves his "I am Iron-man." and "I love you 3000"moments and Marvel gets to seal its legacy as the first sprawling cinematic universe with continuity.
