Hi everyone!
This is a tuto about breasts. Yeah, this wonderful part of female body!
Let's lift the mysteries and taboos, and go checking how to draw them...
To never draw them again like that !
But more like it!
The form and anatomy of the breast
In fact, the breast has more the form of a drop than a round.
It reposes on the lower part of the pecs ; to note that breasts doesn't coincide with pectoral limit. The breast overflows as it descends towards the outside.
The reason why the nipples point outside and not straight is because of the rib cage. The torso has a volume and a rounding. So don't forget to put this volume correctly, and make sure that the nipples point outwards.
Also, people have to draw boobs very close together.
If you are a man, maybe seeing all these necklines make you thinking that. But in fact, this is the push-up bras which make this effect.
It squeezes the breasts to give a sexier look and a line between the boobs.
The form of breast is very different between women. Don't hesitate to variate your breast form in your drawings. Also, the size of the nipples differs a lot. And it's don't relate at all to the size of boobs (Big boobs don't mean big nipples, and inversely)
In profile view, we see this drop form ; it forms a ramp, a progressive line from the breast to the torso.
And the breast is rounded in the bottom, sometimes with pear shape if the women have rather pointed breasts.
Motion of the breast
Imagine a water-filled balloon.
The gravity will push the mass in the bottom.
When you draw breast, always think about gravity. Look at the pose of the character and draw the breast in the correct direction, like a little package who fall.
When we get older, our tissues get less firm. This is the reason why they hang more. We have the same principle with the skin face.
You can see tissues as a kind of protection against gravity. 😉
But naturally, you have breast more firm than others.
But it's only false breasts that rest in place and keep the same form.
Breasts are able to stretch themselves, when we stretch out our arms, and reply when we get back to town. Think about it if you draw a stretched pose, breasts can't be as the same way as if the body was at a basic pose.
I think that's all for this topic 😊
Don't forget, still practice if you want improvements.
See you soon for the next tutorial - about arms.
