This song started out as an experiment on my Roland Handsonic where I used it to control midi drums. I was just coming up with a basic 4/4 beat using the post rock ezx from Superior Drummer 2 by Toontrack. The trickiest part of the process was figuring out how to map each drum pad of the handsonic to the drumset inside Superior Drummer. Fortunately the midi learn in Superior Drummer makes it easy where you just select the individual drum then hit midi learn and tap the drum pad. From here I just tapped out a few fills and loopable midi beats to form the drum structure of the song.
Once the drums were complete I added a couple bass tracks on my Musicman Stingray 5. The first bass track has a bit of drive on it and the second bass track has a four repeat delay on it to fill in the space. To make the song a bit more ambient I added kalimba and idiopan tracks hooked into my axe fx2 with lots of delay and reverb.
The guitar tracks feature an ebow track on my G&L Fallout and a lead track on my knot-o-caster home made guitar. Both guitars were recorded via my axe fx II with some drive, delay and reverb on them. The ambient nature of this improvisation reminded me of endless fractals so I rendered a jwildfire fractal loop (it took 3 days to render lol). Thanks for listening :-) #postrock
