It is a great day out here and I bring you all greetings from this part of the world, I hope you all are having great time and doing well at your respective places, it is always my pleasure to bring to you my creativity, I love to make things especially with fabric and I have made so many for families and friends who really love, appreciate and encouragement what I do, similarly, I want to thank you all for always supporting and encouraging my post. Today, I want to quickly share with you the creative design of this small hand bag I made for my great-niece.
As you all know, I have been making different types of fabric bags and pouch for people around me, I sometimes made a bag for my niece and she loved it so much, after awhile, I made a cross body bag for my other nice and behold, I never knew my niece's daughter was waiting for a day I would make something for her as well, it never actually occurred to me but just few days ago, she had to tell me that I have never made her a bag but I usually make for other people, I had to apologize to her and promised to make nice things for her not only a bag, she was happy and smiled and I hug her.
I just have to start fulfilling my promise to the little girl but first, I have to start with her request which is a hand bag, since she's just a little girl, I had to make it easy for her to carry.
Join me as I take you through the cutting and sewing process.
I have this piece of fabric from the previous bag I made for my niece and from it I measured 15 x 11" with lining.
The lining was placed on the right side of the main fabric and sewn round leaving an opening where it can be turned inside out.
It was turned inside out and top stitched round on the opening as well.
I measured 2" on both sides vertically and folded it in after which it was sewn on the right side.
For the handle, I measured and cut out 9 x 4"
The main fabric was folded in two and I marked 1.5" from the mid point where I sew the handle on both sides
It was folded in two and i sew on both sides.
The base was folded and sewn just as seen below.
I didn't want to cut off the excess, so I used my hand needle and thread to attach it to the seam line on both sides.
It was turned inside out as I fixed a pressing button to the appropriate place with my hand needle and thread and this is the beautiful and lovely outcome of the little hand bag I made for my great-niece.
