It's another beautiful day out here and i hope you all are doing great, i bring you greetings from my sewing room today as i will be sharing with you the cutting and sewing process of this fabric bow ponytail holder with elastic band made with the combination of two fabrics for my little niece as an accessory to compliment her short gown outfit with pleated hem.
Last week, i made an outfit for my little niece and as she always like her outfit to come with an accessory to compliment it, i decided to make this for her. Most times, i make head band or ponytail with elastic just as this, though, it actually depends on the fabric i have left after making her outfit and she always love them especially when it matches with her outfit.
This ponytail holder is made with two different fabrics sewn together to make a single long piece which sewn together with an elastic band added to it
Join me as I take you through the cutting and sewing process of this beautiful ponytail holder
From the actual fabric, i measured and cut out 5.5 x 10" it was placed on another matching color fabric as well to cut out same measurement.
Both pieces were taken to my sewing machine as i sew the sides together
The seam line was opened and it was neatly ironed after which it was folded together and sewn leaving a small opening where it can be turned inside out
It was folded together tip to tip and i measured 1" which was connected slantly to the tip and was cut out
The slanted side was sewn on both sides and it was turned inside out through the small opening
It was neatly ironed while i measured 2" from the middle and it was folded as shown below
Same process was repeated on the other side as well and i have this
I marked a straight line through the middle and i use my hand needle and thread to run a long stitch through it
It was gathered together and secure with the thread after which it was set aside.
For the elastic casing, i measured and cut out 1.5 x 20" it was folded and sewn together before it was turned inside out
I inserted an elastic band of 0.5 x 7" in it and it was sewn together on both ends
I used my gum to fix the elastic band and the bow together
Finally, a small piece was cut and sewn together to cover the rough part.
This is the final and beautiful outcome of the ponytail holder i made for my little niece, i hope you like the beautiful outcome of it.
